About Me

I proudly hold the title of a programmer, having honed my skills during my tenure as a graduate student in Computer Science at the Johns Hopkins University. My journey traversed through the complex realms of high-frequency trading, further consolidating my expertise in the field.

My professional path has been further enriched through integral roles at leading tech giants. I served as a full-time software engineer at Microsoft, an intern at Tencent, and contributed to the technological advancements at Alibaba. These experiences have collectively deepened my knowledge and passion for computer science.

Yet, my interests extend far beyond the borders of the programming world. I'm an ardent history enthusiast, one who truly believes in Francis Bacon's words, "Histories make men wise." My love for history doesn't merely reside in books and documentaries; it thrives in exploration.

From strolling through the historic confines of The Forbidden City in Beijing, paying respect at Karl Marx's tomb in London, tracing the echoes of the past in the Cu Chi Tunnels of Saigon, to confronting the chilling memories of the Tuol Sleng Museum in Phnom Penh, my journeys have nurtured my perspective. Each historical relic I've visited has taught me invaluable lessons of open-mindedness and instilled in me a profound urge to explore the remarkable tapestry that is our world.

Music, Movies, and Books

My fascination for literature spans across a diverse array of genres and cultures. I deeply appreciate both Western classics and Chinese literature, my reading list ranging from the stirring saga of 'Gone With the Wind' to the innovative science fiction of 'The Three-Body Problem'.

However, if I were to highlight the literary masterpieces that have profoundly impacted me, it would undoubtedly be 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' and 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. These books, each an epitome of its respective cultural context, have left an indelible imprint on my understanding of the human condition. 'One Hundred Years of Solitude', with its magical realism, and 'Dream of the Red Chamber', an emblem of classical Chinese literature, are books I hold in the highest regard. They come with my highest recommendation for anyone seeking an enriching and profound literary experience.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For as long as I can remember, museums have been a passion of mine. It was during my high school years, while reading about the British Museum in the Micropædia, that I felt a deep-seated desire to visit this renowned institution.

That dream lingered in my heart for years, quietly shaping my aspirations. As time passed, I worked diligently to make it a reality. After accumulating ¥20,000, mainly from my internship at Microsoft Research, I was finally able to embark on my post-graduation journey to the United Kingdom.

One of my photos stands as a testament to that dream fulfilled: an image of the British Museum. The feeling of achieving a long-held dream is an incredible mixture of pure joy and immense pride. It serves as a constant reminder that making dreams come true is indeed possible, and the happiness it brings is truly incomparable.

Teach, Learn, Share

My career as a professional programmer at Tencent has provided me with a vast array of experiences, ranging from writing the quintessential "Hello, World!" program - a rite of passage for all novice programmers - to developing intricate systems that support an astounding 100 million active users. Our team has the critical responsibility of managing a segment of the QQ News feed, a service which boasts an impressive 0.8 billion monthly active users.

When it comes to history, my passion extends beyond casual interest. I am always eager to engage in open discussions on any historical event, and I firmly believe that no subject should be considered taboo. I welcome varying perspectives and treasure the opportunity to learn from the diverse viewpoints that each conversation brings.

So, whether it's an exchange of ideas on the latest programming techniques or a deep-dive into the historical events that have shaped our world, I eagerly anticipate our future discussions. Here's to the great exchange of ideas! :D
