About Me

Hello! I just graduated from Western Michigan University with a Major in Vocal Performance and a Minor in Events Management. Currently I'm finishing up one last French class while working as the Artistic and Productions Intern for the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival - I get to personally act as the liaison between the festival and many incredible musicians from all over the world! As you can see, I'm very passionate about music and the world-changing possibilities of combining music and events to inspire and empower.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm backpacking Europe for a few months after graduating from college! I traveled with a school group to Paris a few years back and also studied abroad in Rome last summer. The experience was incredible; the more I travel, the more I know that this must be as ever-present in my life as music! It's not just entertaining or therapeutic, but necessary.

I want to use Couchsurfing a lot during this trip because I know from my own experiences (personal homestays and hosting within the U.S.) that staying with a local is completely different than staying at a hostel. I think it would be incredibly eye-opening to actually stay with a local and see their life, hear their stories and exchange experiences.

Interests

I've studied Opera and Jazz at my university, but I live for going to concerts of many kinds! They are the ultimate good-time for me. I'm always up for learning anything and exploring new places, eating curry, supporting local breweries, planning adventures, and meeting new people.

Also, cats.

Music, Movies, and Books

I was blessed to attend a university with a stellar jazz program - so I love good jazz, especially Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, Sonny Rollins...
Other than jazz, I mostly listen to a lot of alternative rock, rock, indie...I will never get over my obsession with Arctic Monkeys. I love Muse, Manchester Orchestra,Two Door Cinema Club, The Airborne Toxic Event, Temples...currently I am in love with Wolf Alice.

I have been re-watching How I Met Your Mother, Parks & Recreation, and Arrested Development...all on a looping repeat, for several years. Other than that I like watching stand-up comedy and I love French films.

I can't seem to get my hands on enough travel memoirs to satisfy my tastes - just recently read What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding by Kristin Newman.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I followed my dreams and studied music. And I'm making it work! Simple.

Teach, Learn, Share

Need some voice lessons in either basic singing technique, opera, jazz, or musical theater? Hit me up. I taught lessons all through my last semester at WMU and I can't wait to teach more!

I'm always up to learn something new: whether it's speaking a foreign language, trying a new cuisine, or practicing a new instrument!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Over all, I am generally pretty quiet - although, don't get me wrong, I love talking to new people and sharing stories! I'm very clean and orderly, and I make it my goal to live in a sincere, honest, respectful, and kind manner.
