About Me

I am going to try my best to make this sound different from a cover letter/resume, I promise, but if I'm being completely honest there will likely be some overlap. But here goes nothin'!

Honestly, the traits that I am most proud of when I reflect on "who I am" usually encompass my passion, open mind, and creativity, but ultimately, my life goal is to be in a constant state of learning from myself, those around me and the environment that I am in. I believe that no matter our differences, you can learn at least one thing from everyone you meet, but only if you are open minded and compassionate enough to listen.

Growing up, I lived in a small mid-west town, and hadn't had much opportunity to appreciate nor experience the beauty of the world. However, when I was 17 I traveled to Ireland to visit my sister who was interning in Dublin, which is where my excitement and curiosity for discovering the unknown was ignited. Since then I have forged every opportunity to make traveling part of my identity, with experiences ranging from interning in Malta, to Wwoofing in Thailand to studying in Peru. With these experiences, I quickly realized that both the hurdles and triumphs of traveling emphasize the importance of being present, no matter the circumstance. Whether you are in a taxi in the middle nomad's land unable to communicate you are lost, or at the bottom of a canyon with only one way up, it is possible to find beauty in everything and appreciate the path that paved each and every moment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am Couchsurfing because I want to experience the genuine and niche unknowns of new places, which I believe is made possible by getting to know the locals, and what better way to get to know locals than to sleep in their beds? Additionally, the ability to explore in the most affordable and accessible means is something I find to be a pivotal part of traveling, for any way to reduce expenses allows for more exploring later!

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently, my favorite music is Fleetwood Mac, favorite movie is "The Intouchables", and favorite book is "The Solace of Trees" by Robert Madrygin

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

when in Peru I did a trek of Colca Canyon, which is one of the the worlds deepest canyons. This was my first multi-day hiking trip which sparked my interest in being able to push myself as far as I can go in nature. I had the option to take the longer, slower route that was less difficult or challenge myself with a more direct route. Every day I am thankful that I challenged myself, for now I never second guess the power of my mind, body or soul.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am passionate about communication and getting to know the "why" of everyone and everything, be it passions, fears, frustrations or dreams. I believe that when we look deeper into ourselves and seek a state of constant reflection, growth is endless for both ourselves and humanity. Therefore, I can share the opportunity to have meaningful discussion be you family, friend or stranger. However, if you're not the talkative type, I am more than comfortable and appreciative for just the hospitality of you opening your home. I am tidy, have a calm demeanor and am more than happy to whip up some mean veggies to share.
