About Me

Co-producing an Irish-American surf documentary: crestmovie.com; promoting a nonfiction book I co-authored ("Last Blasket King", published by The Collins Press)

I'm a shapeshifter.

Like everyone I'm a neuron in the world-brain. I try to help it think positive thoughts.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started as a mostly-surfer, now I'm a mostly-hoster. [Note: One way that I *don't* use CS is to penpal. No offense, I just prefer to live away from my computer whenever possible. So please don't write looking just to chat, but certainly DO send a message if you'd like to meet IRL -- and after we meet, we then can be penpals!]

Couchsurfing has brought me true soulmates and allowed me to have adventures I otherwise couldn't afford. More importantly, it's shown me such wild generosity in action and in doing so, stoked my own desire to give just for the joy of it. Thank you, CS!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once swam with pink dolphins in the Amazon. They were very slippery.

Teach, Learn, Share

I give you a poem by Hafiz, translated by Daniel Ladinsky:

The clear night sky tried to prepare me for
what it knew would someday happen;

it began to show me ever deeper aspects of
its splendor, and then one evening just directly
asked, "Will you be able to withstand your own

I thought I was just hearing things, until
a spring orchard I was passing my days with

at the height of its glory bust into song,
about our -- every human's -- destiny to burn
with radiance.

Still I felt my ears were playing tricks on me
until the morning came when God tore apart
my chest... needing more room to bloom

I began to roll through the streets in ecstasy.
Everyone thought I was crazy.

I hope everyone someday knows how blessed
I was. You will.
