CURRENT MISSION

Visting the countries Liza's grandparents came from - Lithuania and Latvia. i want to see the village where my grandmother was born. I've done some travelling but want to do more.

ABOUT ME

We are a couple - Liza and Rick - custom architectural stained glass artists/designers - own a studio in rural Vermont. We paint and fire glass in the tradition used to create the glass for cathedrals in Europe. We love living the rural life - gardening, living simply and beautifully. We have a vegetable garden, make our own yogurt and cheese, get eggs from the chickens next door. Liza has been in a writing group for a few years now and loves to dance - African dance, modern, folk dance, social dance. Have a wide range of music tastes. Rick used to own draft horses which he used for logging and sleigh rides. We have traveled in Greece, Senegal, England, Norway, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Carribean, Canada, and most of the United States. We like discovering new places and people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're interested in staying with people who live in Latvia and Lithuania and other parts of Europe. When we travel, we like to get a sense of the place through people already living there - an inside view.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our first time couch surfing, but we stayed with Servas people in England a few years ago and that was a great experience - similar to couch surfing as far as we understand.

Interests

art, architecture, dance - all forms of dance, literature, writing, good food, music - world music especially African music- basketball, gardening, design, environment, living simply, beauty, antiques, yoga,ending rascism, meditation, ping pong, philosophy, finding buried treasure.
right now we're interested in finding out more about the village in Lithuania where Liza's grandmother grew up before she moved to the US - just outside Birzai.
