Hi, I'm Lizzie.

I've been living in Shanghai for three years now, but before that was living split across Hong Kong and the UK. I was once an avid traveller but haven't had much chance to get out of China since I moved here, but I'm excited to actually start exploring again!

In short: to meet amazing people and really learn about experience the culture of other countries.

I joined Couchsurfing a few years ago when I was travelling, and I met the most amazing people through it! The best thing about visiting other countries for me is experiencing culture in the way that people who live in that country experience it - Couchsurfing is an amazing way to do that, either by staying with people kind enough to take you in and show you around, or through meeting up with people who share your interests.
I love sharing stories about the places I've been, and hearing other people's stories too - Couchsurfing is great because (most of!) the people you meet here are willing to listen and share too :)

I enjoy meeting people, watching movies and trying new foods. I'm not a very sporty person but I like going for long walks outside and exploring the places I visit on foot, sometimes you find really amazing things by accident that way!

I've been getting into photography since I've been travelling - it's the easiest way to share a story!

Love watching films, anything goes really! Some of my favourites are Tarantino films, Lord of the Rings, anything by Guillermo del Toro.. the list goes on!

My favourite book is probably Perfume by Patrick Suskind.

I enjoy any music, as long as I can attach a good memory to it :)

Spending a couple of days in an orphanage in South Africa was a really rewarding experience, the children were so lovely and the girls who worked there permanently were really inspiring.

Finding more out about my grandparents and their lives gave me a good sense of who I am and where I've come from.

I would like to learn more languages (particularly Mandarin and Spanish but any would be good!) and am happy to help anyone wanting to improve their English.

I would love to learn to cook more exciting meals.
