I'm a college student at Oberlin College studying neuroscience. I grew up speaking both German and English in a highly musical family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm interested in meeting people from different places and creating connections! I really love to learn about cultural norms, share experiences, and help people learn how to love DC as much as I do.

Interests

I love singing and am in an a capella group.
Hand in had with that I also love dancing, especially blues and contra dancing.
I read too much, but also really enjoy traveling, hiking, biking and wandering around in cities and in bookstores.
Neuroscience is awesome, and I love the 'strange aspects' in science :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading with a passion!
My favorite authors are Haruki Murakami, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Kevin Kwan!
I like a variety of music: jazz, classic rock, indie, popular music, folk. Anything I can sing or hum along to is great.
I wouldn't call myself a watcher of great cinema, and I watch far to many chick flicks and action flicks, but my favorite movies are: Blade Runner and In the Mood for Love.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make a variety of foods like Kaiserschmarn (fluffy germanic dessert pancakes), Wiener Schnitzel, blueberry hand pies and a variety of curries, stir fries, and baked goods.
I can teach a lot of folk songs, and how to sing in harmony!
If you want to practice English or German, I'm happy to help!

I'm open to learning anything. Especially how to cook new dishes and the fundamentals of new languages!
