I enjoy meeting new people and learning about different cultures. I am open minded and easy to get along with.
I work at an elementary school helping emergent bilinguals acquire English as an ESL aide and interpreter. I am finishing my studies at the University of Alabama in Birmingham this December. I will earn my Masters of Arts in education with a teaching certification in teaching English as a Second Language.
Right now I want to travel and make new friends in the beautiful countries that I will be visiting with my fiancé. We've traveled together to Mexico, my home country, Belize, Honduras, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, and Hungary.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We want to learn as much as we can from the people that we stay with. We want to understand the people, their cultures in the cities we're visiting. We also want to make new lifelong friends. I think this would be the best opportunity for us to meet new people.

Interests

My interest in photography began in high school. I was lucky enough to take a college course while still in high school. I chose to take the course, Introduction to Photography. In this class, I learned how to photograph using a 35 mm camera and develop the film and photographs. This unique opportunity allowed me to understand what all was necessary to capture beautiful black and white photographs.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music. Some of my favorite artists include: Radiohead, Interpol, Coldplay, Iron and Wine, and Belle & Sebastian. I also like listening to anything from the 80s! :D

My favorite movie is probably Lord of the Rings and the Two Towers. I have probably watched this movie 20+ times. I enjoy all types of movies: The Godfather, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lion, etc. I’ll watch anything!
I watch a lot of movies and series on Netflix or Bravo.com. I'm not going to lie, I do enjoy reality tv!

My favorite book series is Harry Potter. Some of my other favorite books include: The Handmaids Tale, Rebecca, Catcher and the Rye, Looking for Alaska, Into The Wild, Things Fall Apart, and Brave New World.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love working with students and teaching them English. I love seeing how much students can grow with reading and writing! It's incredible seeing how much they learn at 5 years old! Students come in not knowing how to read or write and they leave reading and writing!

I love learning new things from my students and the people around me. I'm sure I will learn so much from the wonderful people that may host Jason and me.

I can share my love of cooking with my hosts. Jason and I love cooking because we love eating! We're not the best cooks but we sure do have fun when we're in the kitchen! Jason makes the best burgers! I enjoy making desserts like cookies and crepes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Jason and I love to cook so we could happily share our love of cooking with our generous hosts! We can also share our experiences with our hosts and tell them what we've learned from our travels. We would also love to invite our host on day trips. I'm sure our host would have so much information to share about the different places we'd like to visit.
