I was couchsurfing before the internet came along. My grandfather lived with us as I was growing up; and, he had a continuing subscription to National Geographic and issues going back to the 1st issue. I think seeing all of the places and peoples of the world during my formative years planted the seeds of wanting to live abroad quite early.

I planned to stay abroad for a year, then two, then three; and then I settled and made a home here in Taiwan.
