Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

because you grow more when you travel and see the world

ABOUT ME

Actually, i just unofficially graduated cause today (8 May 2015) was the last exam of my undergraduate studies! Feels really insane, but time really flies and i guess it reminds us to make full use of every moment we have :)

This summer I'll be volunteering in Taiwan - teaching drama to taiwanese kids. Wont be able to host anyone, cause I'll be living in a rented house with 7 others whom i still don't know. Would still love to meet up with other travellers visiting the country, as well as locals cause Taiwan is probably my favourite Asian city. haven't decided on any travelling plans whilst i'm there too, cause i need to find out what my work entails etc.

PHILOSOPHY

To take on the road that is least trodden on

to love like it's your last

make love, not war ;)

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Host and surf! Although hosting is more difficult cause I'm staying at my friend's apartment for the time being so probably sometime in the future!

Although i can't host you, i'll bring you around - food is my passion in singapore and i'll bring you to taste the flavours of Southeast Asia (and more! you'll be surprised to find out how international we are! :D)

and i surf too! started surfing in April 2014 and never looked back. well, almost never :P

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far it's been surfing cause i've only started this whilst i'm in the UK. it's been both a tricky yet wonderful experience because i often have a problem finding a host, but when i do, it's simply amazing. i dare say that those who've kindly hosted me have truly enriched my life and made my travels so much more memorable. thank you so much! :) so even though i have had some less than pleasant encounters (thankfully not that many though), because of those who've made it worthwhile, i'll keep on surfing :)

Intereses

Singing, eating, reading, traveling

to elaborate slightly, i simply love singing. that said i'm aware i dont have the best voice or anything but it's way for me to express myself and my emotions. and i was watching some musicals when i was in london and i just fell in love with the theatre all over again. i do drama every now and then, but it's just a dream i used to have in the past because in Singapore it's simply not pragmatic unless you're superbly talented. but i really adore the theatre because it makes me feel like i'm coming alive once again whenever i step into one. as i watch the show, a part of me longs to be on that very stage as well. :')

food - one of the best things in life. i love asian cuisine, although i'm always open to trying new stuff. i've been in the uk for about 4-5months and i dare say i've been trying all the stuff possible - black pudding, haggis, welsh faggots (it's not a vulgar term btw!) and all! food is one of the things that keeps me going (not just literally) and im definitely a foodie!

Reading - well i love fantasy so i'm crazy about harry potter. if you probe more i might reveal some more personal stuff about myself! :)

Música, películas y libros

Pop. i know it's trashy but pop music is really catchy, especially korean pop. also, i love leona lewis - she's my diva and goddess and her voice is just pure bliss ;) i fell in love with her when i first watched her performances on xfactor :)

Musicals - those i've watch i'll never forget but if i had to choose my top 4 it'll be Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Bodyguard, and Once. Once is simply amazing. i was on the first row and the lead's voice was so emotional i couldnt help but be moved and melted by it. it was just eargasmic :) and I had the fortune of watching The Bodyguard, starred by Alexandra Burke and her voice is just incredible. Matilda and Charlie are simply amazing - the songs are superbly well written and i love that they're both dark and positive stories

Movies: to be honest, i'm not crazy about movies. it's ironic that i like stories and theatre, but not watch movies, but my life's quite different i must say. but if i had to name some, it would be Sherlock, comedies, musicals (again haaha)

Books:
Harry Potter, fantasy, mythology - i love living in a different, fantastical world :)

Algo increíble que he hecho

In the spring of 2014, i visited London twice, for a total of 7 days, and I actually watched 8 musicals and a Shakespeare play in that time! It's probably not that 'amazing' but it was something i really enjoyed, although my wallet certainly didn't agree ;)

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I believe that the best experience is getting to know people from all walks of life, and from all cultures, because only then do we realise the truths and the falsehoods behind 'stereotype', and learn to appreciate each individual and their culture for who and what they are.

Life's really short, so all the more we need to step out of our comfort zone to meet and know people (and of course, to travel).

what i want to learn - the above, and to make genuine and true friends who, despite the distance, will maintain in contact and the bond that is forged despite wherever we are, and whatever timezone we're in. Learning to try things which I've never dared to!

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I probably don't have anything really tangible, but to me, one of my most precious memories are those of me couchsurfing whilst i was in Europe last summer. I personally look back very fondly on those times, and it was really an adventure where I travelled on my own for the first time, and yet had such a wonderful time. So i guess, that's one of the 'things' i can share?

I'm a history student, and so i guess if you enjoy talk about cultures, history, change, gender and religion, we can have a [hopefully] intellectually stimulating conversation (preferably over some wine too! :P)

Otherwise, i'm generally a rather open-minded (though not without strong views on certain issues), and I think couchsurfing simply opens up a whole new world of possibilities and exploration, which i would usually either not have the opportunity/access, or courage to embark on.
