I am a 48 year old single woman who has raised her children and they are now grown and raising their own families, so it is time for mom to run away from home. I love traveling but could never do much when raising 3 kids as a single mom, so now I am currently traveling the world by house sitting, couch surfing, hostels and the occasional treat of a nice hotel (very occasional). I love being able to stay in one place long enough to immerse myself in the culture a bit to experience all sorts of new things like new tastes, smells, languages, people, cultures, etc. I am looking to visit every country on the globe in the next 5-6 years. I am currently living a nomadic lifestyle and loving it. I, myself, do not have a couch to offer, but when I return after my travels, I definitely will and will offer it to other couch surfers who want to visit wherever I decide to finally hang my hat!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling is a love and a passion for me, but as everyone knows, unless you are independently wealthy, it can be a very expensive love. So by couch surfing, I am able to stay in places without the great expense of a hotel. But beyond the financial part of it, there is the wonderful ability with couch surfing to go so many more places, meet so many more interesting people, learn about many more cultures, try new things, etc. So it is a wonderful way to have new adventures all over the world while meeting great new people and enjoying new experiences.

Interests

I am an artist so I love anything artsy! I paint, draw, sculpt, throw pottery, hand build pottery, make jewelry, you name it, if it is art, I do it. I also love the outdoors; camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing, if it is outdoors, I enjoy it. I love to walk, read, cook, bake and love old classic movies. I love trying new foods, including trying new recipes myself. I also am the Nana of 4 precious grandbabies so I love spending time with them as much as I can. Now that Nana is traveling, it has to be mostly on Skype or FaceTime, but we still get our time in.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a very eclectic taste in music from Reggae to Opera to Country to Classic Rock to 80's music, you name it I listen to it (although not a big fan of Rap, Death Metal or Screamo) other than that I am open to listening to most music. As far as books, my favorite genres are thrillers, suspense/mysteries, forensic thrillers, etc. but also love a lot of nonfiction, biographies, and if it sounds interesting I will probably read it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Had 3 great kids and then became a grandma (Nana). I have down so much in my life that I would consider amazing but I also plan to do so much more. So check back with me in a few months and I will have something new that I consider amazing.
