About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find enough money for solar panels and go off grid.

ABOUT ME

Married to Serafin, who I met in Spain a long time ago. 3 children, all grown up. We used to have a Spanish tapas bar, in the UK, but now, in theory, we have returned to live in Spain. (Although I seem to spend more time working in other countries) We enjoy good food, good wine, good company, and don't do hardly any healthy exercise at all (don't really have time), which is why I need to work near a beach, where I will at least swim in the sea. Hopefully one day we'll get to settle down in Bedmar and we'll have vegetables and chickens.....

PHILOSOPHY

To be happy, have hens, grow vegetables and papayas and cook nice food and drive around in our tuk tuk.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Makes life much more interesting - it's great to see how others live! We've met some lovely people. We haven't been able to host recently, because we're always traveling, but hopefully soon we'll be able to accept people in our little house in Bedmar, Sierra Mágina, Jaén. (Once the staircase is done, and we're there!)

Interests

Basically just food and holidays! But we're learning about planting food and building...
occasionally I have the energy to read a few pages of a book before falling asleep...all sorts, whatever jumps off the shelf at me. Really like doing pilates, but somehow never seem to find time. After 3 summers working on Greek islands, I've decided I can't live without the beach, which is a bit of a problem when you own a house up a mountain in the middle of Spain!
Serafin reads more, and sleeps less! We want to travel as much as possible - the list just keeps growing with the years.

Music, Movies, and Books

We both enjoy historical novels, and I'm pleased I can read in Spanish as well; I've learnt loads about Spanish history that way. Music - nothing too harsh! Serafin can do heavy stuff sometimes, in fact anything (except opera) Once I got taken to an AC/DC concert and spent days recovering my hearing! Most of all Reggae, eclectic mixes, cool Ibiza sunset stuff that makes you feel you're on holiday...and then there are all those old classics that bring back SO many memories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I must have a boring life, can't think of anything much out of the ordinary! But we have produced three healthy, happy, intelligent and friendly human beings who are all getting on with their lives and giving us reason to smile every day!
And we used to traipse around festivals with 3 small kids and a lot of pots and pans, producing amazing curries!

Teach, Learn, Share

People with their eyes wide open, and optimistic, that's important.
I believe in teaching by example, we work hard, so we expect others to do the same.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Something to talk about, a glass of wine, some time in the kitchen, opinions, language practice, just a chat...
