About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world! And find a job...

ABOUT ME

I am from Seattle, WA but right now living in Pittsburgh, PA and studying environmental studies. I am a pretty big nerd when it comes to the environment and the environmental activist community is basically my home in Pgh.

I am just finishing a year spent abroad in Brazil (Belém do Pará, São Paulo, and Salvador da Bahia) so I speak Portuguese quite well (maybe between intermediate and expert...). I would love to learn Spanish!

Overall I'm pretty easy-going, I'm friendly and open and I like to meet new people. I also love to cook (vegetarian!).

PHILOSOPHY

Take chances, do what feels right, always look out for others.
I think being a good friend is one of the most important things in life.
Also being open to love.
Seeing the best in situations.
Putting yourself in uncomfortable situations, always pushing yourself to grow!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I am interested in surfing. I dont know to what extent I can participate in my senior year but after I graduate I hope to host/surf more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My friend hosted a couch surfer in our house last summer, it was an... interesting experience. I have not (yet) done it myself but I have heard great things from my friends who couch surfed in Rio and Belém (Brazil).

Interests

Nature, hiking, reading, painting, food, people, new languages, nerding it up at school.

Environmental activism, although I have been sort of taking a break from it in this last few months. Trying to adjust to Brazilian university (UFBA) was hard enough (got some crazy stories from there...).

I LOVE food and cooking, its one of the things I have missed the most since living in Brazil. My host family here has an empragada and although I would never complain about having food made for me, I can't WAIT to start cooking when I get back home.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Harry Potter (I've read them in English and Portuguese). I love great non-fiction and classics. I love Charles Dickens and Mark Twain.

TV: Dexter, Mad Men, True Blood, Glee.

Movies: The Lion King.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left everything at home and spent a year in Brazil.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to share the insights I have learned from living in Salvador, especially about my experiences with race and sexuality.

I am always game for a fair debate about environmental issues.

I also like sharing relationship philosophies. Relationships with friends, family, and significant others are the center of my life.

Argentina, Brazil, France, Ireland, Israel, United Kingdom
