ABOUT ME

I'm currently living in Chicago, and have been back for almost a year, after a year teaching English in South Korea. During my time there I went to numerous countries around Asia, nearly everywhere Korea itself. I still really miss the food and am on a mission to try all the Korean restaurants in Chicago (though I like nearly all food). I spend my time exploring Chicago and working to earn money to fund future travels.

I really enjoy meeting new people and making new connections (as an example, I recently visited the Netherlands and stayed with a Dutch friend I met in a hostel in Taipei months before that). I'm pretty mellow and laid-back, and I don't stay angry or upset for very long when things don't go my way. I'm not terribly picky about where I sleep when I travel (unless the place was filled with cockroaches or rats or bedbugs), and I don't complain about inconsequential things.

I love things Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Bugle (Audio Newspaper for a Visual World) podcast, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, Richard Cheese (lounge singer), history, traveling, going to concerts, improv and stand-up comedy, and the rush you get when you hear a good band hit a good groove and just tear into it, building the energy until it breaks over the room like a wave breaking on the shore, kicking everyone up a notch.

PHILOSOPHY

Be an anti-Puritan. If someone somewhere is having fun, I don't want to stop them, I want to join in. Also, recognize that no matter what religion, race, ethnicity or whatever other category you are or else someone falls under, they're still human and you should respect that as one conscious being to another.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can now surf and hang out and go to events. One day, I would like to be able to host, but I don't think I have the space to do so right now.

I've been in Paris for Bastille Day and seen the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower. That was pretty amazing.
