Hello there!

My name is Lotte Laan. I am a 23 year-old woman who grew up on a small island up North in The Netherlands. I spent my whole childhood there and went to the Waldorf primary school. I moved out of my parents house when I was 18 years old, after I had finished secondary school.
From there I lived in Bergen, The Netherlands, for one year to do one more year of Waldorf High school.

After finishing the Waldorf school I moved to Haarlem, where I still live, to follow a four year course at the Fine Woodworking College in Amsterdam (Hout-en Meubileringscollege Amsterdam).

I just graduated and I specialized in furniture restoration and I am going to follow another study to become an interior designer.

My dream is, after finishing college, to start my own creative, social work place for youngsters and young adults in need. Here they can take their minds off their current life situation and I can teach them the crafts and arts of furniture making as well as other creative things. Through this process I can help them to reclaim their place in our society.

Hobbies: I play a tiny bit of guitar and I am quite the nerd when it comes to video games. Socializing with my friends and visiting music festivals are my favourite things to do.
I also like going to the museum or clear my head at the beach.
Sometimes I hit the gym.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My whole life I have been called the social type and with that comes that I love to meet new people. I don't see a better way of meeting and getting to know someone by staying at his or her place, even if it is only for one night.

I have to say that making this profile makes me a little nervous but really excited at the same time. I am a person who should get out of her comfort zone more and just go out and see the world!

Whoever is willing to invite me to their home is helping me to reach that goal. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014, when I was 19 years old I traveled to Norway alone. For me this was a huge step because I never went on a holiday alone before. I have met amazing people there and fel in love with the country. I went back during the winter of 2016 to visit my friends and traveled from Bergen to Oslo to celebrate the New year there.

In 2017 I went with my best friend on a sprs.me backpacking trip together. We had no idea where we went to until we arrived at the airport. Our destination: Wroclaw.

I have had a wonderful time in Poland and I will definitely go back sometime!
