About Me

Salut ! I'm Louise a young french girl, born and bred in Toulouse (South West of France) but I left my heart in Wisconsin where I spent 1 year when I was 15 as an exchange student with AFS!
I am studying Foreign Languages Applied (English, Portuguese). I'm outgoing, very enthusiastic, always ready for an adventure ! If we get along pretty fast you will also notice that I'm kinda crazy (in a good way ;) )

I'm currently living in Belo Horizonte, Brazil! I'm having a lot of fun (probably too much actually), discovering a lot of things... Which is why, during these 2 months of break, I am traveling over Brazil! 🇧🇷
Agora, estou morando em BH! Durante estes 2 meses de ferias vou viajar ao redor do Brasil, talvez a gente pode se encontrar ? :)

Currently trying to understand the world. My current passions are to raise awarness fo the environnement, to learn new things (anything really, even useless things), I'm trying to reduce my waste and to live more sustainably. Also trying to be happy :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I loooove traveling! And I think that traveling is not only about sightseeing but also discovering the culture and the best way to it is to make friendships with locals! Couchsurfing is a fun way to discover people who are open minded, and I'm open minded so I said, why not ? It sure is better than staying alone in a hotel room! I don’t want to see places I want to meet people :)

I don't need much to be happy, except being with interesting people, in interesting places (and I find things interesting quite easily) :) For me nothing is sadder than being in a foreign place without getting to know the locals, what their lives are like, how they are investing themselves in the city and what makes this place so special for them!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys, Breakbot, Grandmaster Flash, Seu Jorge, Natiruts and TOTO are my fav. But recently I've been listening to a lot of Portuguese music :) --> Zeca Baleiro, Mallu Magalhães, Banda do Mar, Vanessa da Mata, Chico Buarque, Fino Coletivo, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben Jor, Braza, Rubel, and Tim Maia

I like documentaries about actual problematics,
Movies: Death at a funeral, I really like Tarantino's movies, as wells as Wes Anderson's.
TV shows: Sense 8, Sherlock Holmes, That 70's show, How I met your mother, The Get Down, Rick and Morty, Brooklyn 99, The Good Place, The Office,

Books: I must admit that I don't read a lot of books, but I intend to focus more on reading in the future! One book I've recently read and loved was Le Choeur des Femmes by Martin Winckler, Eating Animals by Jonathan Sofran Foer(I recommend it if you're curious about what is agriculture like today and why). Books about feminism :) I really like comic books too (not the marvel kind though)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam in the crater of a volcano in Costa Rica.
Spent a year abroad when I was 15 in Wisconsin, USA and I saw northern lights twice while I was there, yes Northern Lights in Wisconsin !! (Also saw a bear 🐻)
Did an interail trip across Italy with 2 friends, we only couchsurfed :))
Built a junior high school in Agbélouvé, Togo.
Worked in a Portuguese surf hostel, Porto, Portugal.
Renovated a school in Merawi, Ethiopia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a little bit of French of course !

I love to hear about other cultures and I would love to hear about yours :)

I love to cook (doesn't mean I'm a good cook) and I will definitely help you cooking if you want me too :)

Can show you a contortionist trick ;) (you shouldn’t be able to do it too, I strongly believe something’s odd with my shoulder ahah)

Will give you tips (IF YOU WANT THEM) on how to live a more sustainable life, and why, if you don’t already surpass me on the subject)

Anything really :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will share with you stories from the little life I've had.
I believe that the best part of being on couchsurfing is sharing lives and cultures.

I can also cook (I'm learning everyday, so don't expect too much, I mostly cook for myself )

Can help around the house with a big smile on my face :)))

That's why by getting to know me, you'll also get to know a little about France, Wisconsin and places I've visited :)

I can be quite talkative, just so you know

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, England, Ethiopia, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Réunion, Spain, Togo, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
