About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"To travel as much as possible on my year abroad, meeting as many new people as possible along the way!"

ABOUT ME

Salut, I’m Louise, studying French and German at Cambridge and currently living in France on my year abroad. I am spending my year in Nantes, working as an English assistant and I want to use this opportunity to experience as many new things and make as many memories as possible! I am going interrailing with my friend Christina in May and we want our experience to be personal, memorable and as authentic as possible. We both speak French and German and would love to be able to practice with some locals along the way!

PHILOSOPHY

Never have regrets because at one point everything you did was exactly what you wanted to do ...

... you only live once.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am at a point in my life where I am unable to host right now, splitting my time between my parent's house and uni halls. I have surfed a few times this year on my year abroad and during an interrailing trip, hopefully in the next year or two I will be in a position to welcome people into my home as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only just discovered couchsurfing and earlier this year I couchsurfed in Rennes for the first time, and I loved it! Being a languages student I love the idea of meeting local people and learning more about new cultures!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love watching films, listening to music and reading. Unfortunately the time pressures of uni have prevented me from reading for pleasure, but it means that I discovered my love for 19th Century French lit, mainly Zola, Baudelaire and Maupassant. Since being in France I have started Stephen Clarke's 'Merde' series which is a must for any Anglophone in France!

I love all sorts of music, especially if its live! The last album I bought was Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto, and the best gig I have ever been to was the Manic Street Preachers in Cambridge!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving to France this year has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life! Moving to a new country and discovering a new culture whilst living with my host family has been awesome. I have met so many new people from all over the world, and I can see why everyone says that your Year Abroad is the best year of your life!
