About Me

I've recently renewed my couchsurfing profile (2016) and took the effort to give it the life it never had. I created this profile 3 years ago upon the recommendation of my friend but did not even use it since I did not have a place of my own, neither did I travel!

Anyway fast forward 3 years and I am a postgraduate student in UK. I will be going home to Malaysia by the end of this year but until then, I hope to be able to meet as many couchsurfers as possible, either through meeting up with those visiting Birmingham or hosts in other countries! My desire is to travel as much as I can before going home and I intend to satisfy that desire, I'm certainly not letting a shoestring budget stop me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people, especially those who are willing to exchange travel experiences and home country stories of course. I'm a strong believer that travelling opens up your mind (and heart) in unimaginable ways. And I personally feel, every time I travel, that it's the people that make the place. Going to the same destination but meeting people of complete different ends of the spectrum inevitably gives off a different feel and of course leaves a different impression. Nevertheless, I always seem to find a silver lining regardless and I think being able to do that is essential when you're travelling!

Interests

travelling, dancing, music, reading, learning new languages, generally almost anything foreign to me intrigues me and before I know it, I can't rest until I've satisfied my curiosity!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I love music, I'm open to any genres but of course have my preference. but the rule of thumb is if I find a heavy metal or rap song(s) as my current fav for instance, it tends to be an exceptions for me.

live music = jazz or folk any time every time.

Movies:
the Prestige, the Godfather, inside out, Avengers, Great Gatsby, the Wolf of Wall Street, Inception, Catch Me If You Can, etc

Books:
the Outliers, the Raven Cycle, the Notebook, Plea of Insanity, V for Vendetta, the Great Gatsby, etc...

...and anything from Roald Dahl (no judging me, he was my childhood and I am his forever fan)

NOTE: I dislike listing my favourites, just because I KNOW i'm bound to miss something out and even if I don't, it's only a fraction of my true list!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

*need time to think about this one!*

What I Can Share with Hosts

-local knowledge of home country (i'm from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but I also have a good idea of Malacca which are where my grandparent's live)
-local knowledge of Aberystwyth and Birmingham, UK (although it's limited I'm sure)
-cultural exchange experience in Japan
-travel experience in Asia (and hopefully soon Europe)
-language and cultural exchange (i'm really interested in this and I hope you are too!)
-food (i love eating so naturally I love talking about and exploring different cuisines. i'm really adventurous in this aspect so let's go!)
