About Me
Hosting info:
- Please don't send me a Couchsurfing request if you don't have any references. If you're just getting started, I recommend getting to know the CS community through meetups. Best of luck!
- Please don't send a Couchsurfing request more than about a month out from the host date - I can't plan that far in advance.
Thanks!
Back to about me:
I love travelling, interesting and different foods, foreign cultures, and finding technical solutions to the world's problems. I'm a software developer working for Zoox on self-driving taxis - living in San Francisco.
I just moved here from Sydney Australia, but I grew up in a tiny town called Dunedin, in New Zealand.
Most of this bio is probably > 10 years old now, but I'm happy to give you more up-to-date information if you send me a message :-)
I like discussing and debating topics with people that challenge my worldview. I always like to question what I think is right, and as I've grown older many of my beliefs have been changed after meeting, talking, and making friends with locals through couchsurfing.
I'm a huge foodie - it's a big part of why I travel. Previous food trips have included:
- Replicating the path of the TV show 舌尖上的中国 (A bite of China), going to as many provinces as possible, and eating the local delicacies in each.
- Going to Borneo to find tropical fruits that I'd never seen and eaten before.
- Going to Myanmar to try cuisines from many of their local ethnic groups.
I'm most familiar with foods from all over Asia, but over the last few years I've started to become very interested in foods and fruits from Africa and South America. Can you show me some of your most tasty and unusual local foods?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I absolutely love couchsurfing because it gives me an opportunity to get a feel for real local culture. If you're staying in motel you could be staying practically anywhere. You need to live as a local to really get to know a place, and the easiest way to live like a local is to live with a local :-)
I also just love meeting new people and making new friends.
Interests
Food (eating and cooking), philosophy (I love talking about ethics and morality, and life in general), solving world problems, trying new things.
