ABOUT ME

In a sentence... I'm essentially an optimist. I haven't been one all my life, but I realized not too long ago that expecting the worst is cowardice, believing in the good in people and hoping for the best outcome may be naive to some, but it's ultimately a better way to live. It's all a state of mind.

PHILOSOPHY

Live with passion, love without bounds. The most important things in life are the moment you are in, the person you are with in that moment, and what you are doing in that moment. Live in the moment. Travelers live in the moment by default. "Ships are safe in the harbor, but that's not what ships are made for".

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent some time in northern Spain this summer and had a very good host there.

Intereses

Traveling, music (listening, going to concerts, dancing to it, and singing...I have this crazy dream of becoming a back-up singer in a band.), cooking and feeding people, snowboarding (although I'm not that good yet) but man I love it!, writing poetry, amateur stand-up comedy (I did this to combat my stage fright. I face my fear by looking at it dead in the eyes!). A few months ago I went skydiving! Oh man! You haven't lived until you've jumped out of a perfectly good plane descending at a rate of 130 mph. I'll definitely go again! Okay, and last but not least, the real passion in my life, salsa (dancing, not sauce, but I love that too). I've been taking lessons for 6 months and will be moving to Spain to start a dance studio. I invite all travelers to Murcia in 2008 and take lessons!

Música, películas y libros

All kinds of music, but latin music is my ear candy, almost anything you can dance to and stuff that makes you get all squishy and gooey inside (bachatas and boleros). I love classic and indie rock, chillout, latin, hip-hop, R&B, blues, jazz, pop, classical, even country ... everything except death metal, zydeco, and polka. Please no POLKA!!! I like listening to lots of UK stuff... Snow Patrol, Muse, etc. But I also love my SoCal bands, especially Pinback, a local San Diego favorite. I haven't had time for movies and books, but hope to dive into something real soon. My favorite movies of all time? The Little Mermaid, The Lion King (I'm a kid and romantic at heart) and American Beauty.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I used to care for a fellow UC Berkeley student who is a quadriplegic. It was a very humbling experience that taught me patience and gratefulness.
