O mnie
CURRENT MISSION
learn as much as possible about European culture and decide where I want to go to graduate school
ABOUT ME
I think I am far too young to have a grasp at all on this question, but I am trying to figure this one out, and I think that just admitting that you have no idea is the first step. But I am having the time of my life trying to figure out what I want my life to be all about.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that I must "be the change I wish to see in the world." I just want to be happy and see others happy as well. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will live in peace."
Dlaczego jestem na Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Even though I don't have the chance to be a host right now, I am definitely looking forward to the chance to return the favors others have given me throughout my travels so far. I love how couch surfing is about paying it forward - using the kindness someone else has shown you to help someone later.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had my first experience surfing in Istanbul for four amazing days! Brett, Libby, and I stayed with one of the sweetest families I have ever met. There was a language barrier, but that didn't seem to matter. They took us to the bus station at the end of our trip and I was so sad to leave because I knew I would miss them so much. They gave us more than a place to stay, they were our family for those few days. The mom said that we were like children to her. I understand this amazing experience was an exception, people are busy and have lives and it's difficult to spend a lot of time hosting strangers, but this was an experience I will never forget.
I'm at my second couch right now in Vienna and our host is wonderful and very welcoming.

I love staying up crazy late for a crazy good conversation, surprises, walking in the city (sounds silly, but it is so amazing), picnics, and smiles for no apparent reason.

Muzyka, filmy i książki
I love love a good book! In fact, my favorite smell is the smell of an old library. I liked Anthem by Ayn Rand, My Sister's Keeper, The Bridges of Madison County, anything by Mary Higgins Clark, Captivating, and I'm reading the Bible, Across the Spectrum, and Screwtape Letters.
Movies: The She Found Me, The Other Boleyn, My Best Friend's Wedding, Dan in Real Life, The Break Up, Erin Brocavich, Deja Vu, Troy

Jedna niesamowita rzecz, którą zrobiłem(-am)
A friend and I spontaneously decided to plan a trip with less than 24 hours notice to the Swiss Alps for a day of skiing. Switzerland is beautiful.

In Turkey, I learned how much you can say without saying anything at all. I think my friends and I learned about 12 Turkish words during our time there, but you can tell so much from expressions and tones that I think our host family in Istanbul knew exactly how grateful we were.
I also learned how stereotypes often come from very small, isolated events. Therefore, I will try to be more conscious in the future of my actions, especially while traveling, because I may be the first person someone has met from a certain area and therefore in some way, representative of something much bigger than myself.
