About Me
Hi,
I've just handed in notice and am off travelling for five months in South East Asia. Starting off in Indonesia and working my way up through Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Myanmar.
Before jacking it all in I was working as an accountant, and studying for a degree in Economics in the evenings as I'm interested in a bit of a sideways jump into Economic policy. I care a lot about politics, distribution of wealth, the environment - so aiming to move into something a little more socially productive!
I'm enjoying travelling and seeing what Indonesia has to offer; beautiful beaches, idyllic sunsets, Buddhist temples and mosques jostling together, crazy mopeds, bintang!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My friend and I are looking for couches to surf on any/all of the countries above; if you have a spare couch/bed/soft corner! Looking forward to meeting you!
I am trying to keep budget down and much prefer visiting a new place or city with a local; you learn so much more and get the 'insider' view.
Interests
I love reading, fiction and non-fiction; currently wrapped up in a re-reading of Anna Karenina, before that Adam Bede. Love a bit of the classics. I am interested in current affairs, politics, economics - hence the evening study - with a leftist sympathy. I enjoy yoga, am reading more about Buddhism and meditation - and dabbling. At home I go to the gym quite a bit,but travelling I'm doing more outdoorsy stuff - hiking, cycling, white water rafting, snorkelling. Music taste; I have a predilection for 80s stuff; The Cure, The Smiths etc but also Cyndi Lauper; and a bit of a penchant for 60s (Dusty), a touristic survey of classical, and a medley of stuff from my yoof; indie, grunge, pop.

I ended up cash-strapped in Japan, working in a hostess bar. It was an experience shall we say; an insight into the real Japan.
