Nice to meet you! I'm Lucas and new to couchsurfing :) I'm super excited to try this out and to meet new people, learn new things, see new places! I'm German but live in France now for almost 2 years. I'm super curious and love to experience new places through the eyes of a local! I am usually pretty chatty (as much as a german can be 🤷🏼‍♂️) and social but can also be calm and do my own thing if necessary :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend introduced me to couchsurfing and I really loved the experience and her storys and general passion for couchsurfing generally good me hooked. More generally, I just love the idea behind it and to be able to meet new people in amazing places! ☺️ I am excited to experience a place a little bit like a local and to understand what they love about their home and their daily live.

Finally, I think couchsurfing is a super flexible option to see places that one would never explore or even know of without couchsurfing! I like the randomness behind it and that it let's you break out of daily life :)

Interests

I'm interested in a lot of stuff and quite easy to fascinate for new things! Physics and generally science is probably my number one. I recently learned quite a bit about philosophy and psychology which are also super exciting! It can also be random things like that 2 hours doku about waiting line optimization at Disney land that I still need to watch 😂
Meeting people and getting new perspectives is definetly also supeeer interesting, which is why I love traveling. Sports like football (soccer), volleyball, cycling, and bouldering also fascinate me.

I'm also currently trying to learn the ukulele to get more in touch with music and art ☺️

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm probably quite "normal" (whatever that means 🤷🏼‍♂️) in terms of my interest in terms of music, books, and films. My favorite band is Bastille and I hope to see Coldplay live one day. But I can also give you an introduction to German schlager and party music. Generally I love to sing along and I'm definetly up for some Karaoke 😄

I often read books that teach me something about politics, geography, history or science but recently switched to french children books to learn the language. I also enjoy audio books and podcasts a lot! ☺️
Otherwise, I enjoy fantasy, such as Harry Potter (have gone through the story waaaay to often) and Lord of the Rings :)

I like movies that make me think, stimulate my fantasy and/or are science related. I have no exact idea why but If I would need to name a favorite movie right now, it might be 'Good Will Hunting' (beacuse I love Robin Williams in that movie), If I cannot say the whole LOTR trilogy 😄

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That's a tough one and probably in some philisophical sense it's simply enjoying life ☺️
But to say something more travel related and concrete:
After my PhD, I did a 4 and a half month backpacking tour through southeast asia, which was my first big trip outside Europe! I absolutely loved every day of it, to be in nature, taste new food, experience other cultures, learn their history, see exotic animals and plants, have amazing views on sunsets and sunrises, to swim and snorkel in breathtaking waters and have a lot of adrenaline heavy activities :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Me. I'm super happy to learn about your views on life and extemely curious and what you want to share with me about it. I genuinely think that I am kind and social, with a lot of interests, so we should have an easy time to chat. I can be spontaneous and very active, so if the chance is there, I am up for some common activity, cooking together or whatever comes to your mind.

But I can also do my own thing If you don't have time :) In general I don't need much, I am pretty clean, do not smoke and love animals/pets :)
