Llegué a Madrid el 10 de Agosto, buscando conocer la ciudad y su cultura desde dentro. Vine a Europa para trabajar durante este verano en Suecia, ahorrar dinero y volver a Argentina a grabar mi primer álbum solista.

Hello! I'm Lucas, musician, artist, songwriter. I've made multiple trips on my own since I was 19, working and visiting places: Australia, Barcelona, Sweden, and now Madrid. I've arrived in Madrid 10 August, looking to know the city and it's culture from the inside. I came to Europe to work during this summer in Sweden, save some money and go back to Argentina to record my first soloist album.
Since I'm making my first few steps in couchsurfing, I left my Instagram user lower on my profile in order for you to be able to check that I'm a legit profile with a real story :)

Luego de dos meses en Suecia, aburriéndome un poco, decidí la semana pasada (3 de agosto 22') irme en autostop a Madrid, y al día siguiente ya estaba en la carretera. Hasta ahora, es la mejor decisión que podría haber tomado, priorizando las experiencias sobre cualquier otra cosa. Tuve algunas de las mejores experiencias de mi vida en esta semana, y descubrí una parte de mi propia vida que aún no conocía.

After two months in Sweden, getting a little bored, I've decided last week (august 3rd 22') to leave and go hitchhiking to Madrid, and the next day I was already on the road. So far it's been the best decision I could've made, prioritizing the experiences over anything else. I've had some of the best experiences in my life during this last week, and I've discovered a part of my own life that I didn't know.

Tomé conciencia de que uno debe ir en busca de las cosas que quiere, sin más; que si alguien puede ayudarnos solo tenemos que preguntar; y que hay mucha gente muy bien predispuesta a compartir, divertirse, ayudar, enseñar.

I realized that one should go after the things that one wishes, and that's it; that if someone can help us, we just have to ask for it; and that there's a lot of people willing to share, have fun, help, teach.

Soy un introvertido que se dio cuenta de lo bonito y gratificante que es conocer personas con las que compartir buenos momentos, y ahora va en búsqueda de ello. Creo que es un momento de mi vida para aprender a salir más de mi mismo, de mi zona de confort, de esa leve ansiedad social que a veces impide tomar la iniciativa para conocer gente increíble y animarse a seguir las pasiones y sueños.

I'm an introvert that realized how beautiful and fullfilling it can be to meet people with whom to share good times, and now goes after it. I think I'm in a moment in life where I can grow and learn to get out of my own comfort zone, and get rid of that little social anxiety that sometimes keeps me from taking the iniciative to meet incredible people and have the courage to follow the passions and dreams.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Luego de cruzar una buena parte de Europa en autostop conociendo a la gente local, compartiendo y aprendiendo con ellos, llegué a Madrid y me di cuenta que en un hostel se pierde gran parte de ese espíritu. Me di cuenta que quizás me aburrí en Suecia por no haber entrado en contacto con la cultura local. Esto es lo que busco utilizando Couchsurfing.

After travelling through a large part of Europe hitchhiking and meeting locals, sharing and learning with them, I've arrived in Madrid and realized that that spirit is not the same in the hostels. I realized that maybe I got bored in Sweden because I never got in touch with the local culture that much. This is what I look for in Couchsurfing

Si bien los hostels son lugares donde uno conoce gente y se divierte, encontré un gran contraste entre conocer España a través del Auto-stop esta última semana vs conocer España desde el hostel en el que estoy en este momento. Por eso pienso que para seguir teniendo el mismo sentimiento al conectar con gente y aprender de la vida local, Couchsurfing es la herramienta perfecta.

Even though hostels are a great place to meet people and have fun, I've found a big contrast between getting to know Spain through hitchhiking vs doing it through the people at the hostel where I am right now. That's why I think that in order to get that same feeling connecting with people and learning about local life, Couchsurfing is the perfect tool.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2019 at 19 years old I traveled on my own to Australia to work for 4 months. After, I went to Barcelona but covid came and I stayed 4 months locked down on my own writing songs and studying guitar / En 2019 viajé con 19 años solo a Australia para trabajar por 4 meses. Luego fui a Barcelona pero llegó el Covid y estuve encerrado otros 4 meses escribiendo canciones y estudiando guitarra.

Last week (Aug 2022) I traveled from Stockholm to Madrid hitchhiking / La última semana viajé de Estocolmo a Madrid haciendo Auto-stop.

It was one of the best experiences in my life, if not the best / Fue una de las mejores experiencias de mi vida, sino la mejor.

I've discovered the immense value shared when you get to know a place and a culture through it's local people / descubrí el inmenso valor que se comparte cuando conoces una cultura y un lugar a través de su gente local.

Mucha gente me ayudó y pasamos momentos increíbles de manera espontánea encontrándonos en la carretera. Por ejemplo Roman, un chico Frances que vive en Maing, Francia, me recogió en Bélgica y me invitó a su casa para tomar una ducha y visitar su pueblo. Terminamos pasando un día tremendo, conocí a sus amigos, fuimos a un restaurant, visitamos Valenciennes y pasamos una noche divertidísima en su casa. Experiencias como ésta me enseñaron que el mundo es un lugar lleno de gente increíble dispuesta a pasar un rato increíble, divertidísimo y memorable espontanea e inesperadamente, y que lo único que uno tiene que hacer para descubrir esto y compartir esas experiencias, es salir fuera, hablar con gente y preguntar
Many people helped me and we had great times spontaneously by just meeting in the road. Roman, for example, a French guy that lives in Maing, France, picked me up in Belgium and invited me to his house to have a shower and see his town. We ended up meeting with his friends, going to a restaurant, visiting Valenciennes and spending a very funny night in his house. Experiences like this showed me that the world has amazing people everywhere willing to have great and memorable times, and that the only thing you have to do to discover it and share those experiences, is going out, and talk to people and ask.

Many other stories like this happened this last week, it was truly amazing / Muchas historias como esta ocurrieron esta última semana, fue realmente asombroso.
