About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Work. Read. Cook. Travel.
I work at a small private high school in Toronto--English and History, mostly. Last week I finished teaching for the year. (Yeah, summer school sucks for teachers too!) I've always wanted to see something of the American West, and what with the eclipse next week, I figured I'd give it a shot!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I graduated high school I spent a lot of time hitch-hiking on Canada's east coast--Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland. As extraordinary as the places I went were, it was the people I met that I've remembered most: absolute strangers who would go far out of their way to help you out, or show you something of the places they lived. I want to be able to offer the same hospitality now that I'm in a position to lend a hand myself, and I want to keep meeting new people and seeing new places!
Interests
I, uh, hitchhiked to Newfoundland once. Amazing? Stupid? Both? Both.
- cooking
- movies

Music, Movies, and Books
I really like seeing live music--country, soul, punk... As for movies, if it's got Katherine Hepburn in it, I'm in.
Favourite writers: James Baldwin, Joan Didion, John Berger.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent two years working in Tokyo, just wandering the city every chance I got. Amazing was the word for it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I make a mean roast chicken dinner. (Or lasagne, if you're vegetarian!)
Countries I’ve Visited
Bahamas, Cambodia, Laos, Mexico, Slovenia, Thailand, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
Canada, Japan
