About Me

ABOUT ME

Hey! I'm Lucas — 32, Brazilian-Italian, and probably somewhere unexpected right now.

Over the past few years, I’ve built a life that’s hard to pin down geographically. I’m officially based in a small town in the Marche region of Italy — which is also, in a way, home — but I spend most of my time on the move, traveling, volunteering, and chasing the kind of experiences you won’t find on a highlights reel.

Right now I’m in the United States for my second Workaway, staying until the end of May. After that? We’ll see.

My background is in International Relations and government affairs, but what’s always driven me is something simpler: a genuine curiosity about people. I love hearing how someone ended up where they are, what shaped them, what they care about. A good conversation over a home-cooked meal or a cold beer is my idea of a perfect evening.

I’m easygoing and genuinely easy to be around — I adapt well, communicate openly, and I’m just as happy going on a spontaneous walk as I am sitting around talking for hours.

PHILOSOPHY

Traveling, for me, has always been more about people than places. A city can be stunning, but it’s the conversations, the unexpected invitations, the moments you never planned that actually stay with you.

Couchsurfing fits that perfectly — it’s not an accommodation hack, it’s a way of moving through the world with your eyes open.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I’ve been part of this community since 2014, and it has genuinely shaped the way I travel. I’ve hosted, surfed, and joined meetups across different countries — and in every case, I try to show up fully, not just pass through.

That might mean cooking something from back home, swapping stories late into the night, or simply bringing good energy into someone’s space.

It goes both ways. Always.

CURRENT SITUATION

Right now I’m traveling and doing a Workaway in the US, so hosting isn’t on the table.

But I’m very open to meeting people — coffee, a walk around the city, or a good conversation with no particular destination. Those are often the best kind.

WHAT I CAN SHARE

Good conversation, travel stories, a Brazilian-Italian perspective on most things — and yes, almost certainly a playlist and a glass of wine.

If I’m staying with you, I’m tidy, self-sufficient, and respectful of your space and routine. That said, I genuinely enjoy spending time with hosts, not just sleeping under their roof.

FINAL NOTE

I’m not here for a free bed — I’m here for the kind of exchange that makes travel worth it.

If you think we’d click, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Interests

Music is probably my biggest passion — genres, discoveries, obscure recommendations, the story behind a song. I could talk about it for hours, and I’m always happy to swap playlists.

Beyond that: running, books, films, and an ongoing curiosity about how different cultures eat, celebrate, grieve, and make sense of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Seriously, if you have to choose a topic to start a conversation with me, you can always pick MUSIC: I'm always interested in discovering new artists and rhythms. But if I had to say, I'd say that these are some of my favorites artists: Johnny Cash, AC/DC, The Ramones, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Misfits, Noah and the Whale, Johnny Flynn, Manu Chao, SOJA, Social Distortion, The Beatles, NOFX, Oasis, Black Sabbath, Metallica, João Gilberto, Tom Jobim, Daft Punk

Books: Hemingway, Bukowski, Fitzgerald, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, Edgar Allan Poe, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Fernando Pessoa.

Tv series: How I met your mother, The Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Dexter, Les revivants.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was visiting the Chapada dos Veadeiros in Goiás (Brazil), and I decided to enter the jungle through a few small trails made by locals. It was amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some words in portuguese or italian if you want, or something about brazilian/italian culture you're interested in. And even I'm sure I'm not the best dancer, I could teach you how to "samba".

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can't offer you much right now - once I'm still traveling. But back in Italy I have a sofa bed in the living room and it's pretty much comfortable and clean. Besides that, I'm always available to show you some details about the city, and I can also share you all my life experiences living in Brazil, in Canada and France

Countries I’ve Visited
