Overview
About Me
I have been living on Kauai, Hawai'i for the last year working in a regenerative, organic breadfruit agroforest. Instead of heading back home to San Francisco right away, I am taking some time to travel around Japan. I am passionate about food justice, organic farming methods, zero waste living, and much more!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I do not know much about Japan and would love to learn and experience more from the people that call it home. I am planning on doing some tourist-y things, but plan on leaving my itinerary pretty flexible to allow for suggestions and connections from those I meet along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books
Enjoy most types of music! Especially when I have never heard anything like it before.
I am currently reading The Food Explorer: The True Adventures of the Globe-Trotting Botanist Who Transformed What America Eats
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just conducted a year long study comparing the effects of Bokashi and compost on crop yields! I got to present this research at the Hawai'i Conservation Conference. It was pretty awesome!!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning, whether it’s in a classroom setting or out here in the “real world.” The last year I have learned a lot about natural farming methods, and am hoping to learn more about these in Japan. Effective microorganisms (EM-1) was originally formulated in Japan, and I am fascinated to learn more while I am there. Would love to be able to connect with farmers throughout the country.
Whether we are aware of it or not, every person we meet teaches us something new. I think that is the greatest part about the opportunity to couchsurf.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am eager to make connections with people here and learn as much as I can about life in Japan. I genuinely want to get to know you, learn about why you love (or don't love) living n Japan, and any other travel experiences or words of wisdom you might offer! Though I have never couchsurfed, I have done similar things such as staying with a host family in Isafjordur, Iceland. My hope is that I can share my time, experiences, and open-hearted-ness with hosts on here just like I got to with my Icelandic family.
Countries I’ve Visited
England, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Peru, United States
