Overview
About Me
I am 29, married and host a foreign exchange student from Brazil (currently). I have hosted 5 other students. I live on Whidbey Island currently, and have previously lived in California, Virginia, and several cities in Florida. I moved so much because my husband used to be a DoD contactor, but was laid off during the 2013 sequesters. I am a card carrying member of my local Elks lodge where I help a lot with planning family friendly events, and have held a position with a local non for profit while living in California.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was told about this site while traveling and meeting with a gentle man who did similar philanthropy work. I always thought the idea was cool, but didn't find myself traveling much since moving to Washington.
I now find myself traveling about 3 hours daily for school and it is becoming difficult on the longer days at the hospital. I am hopping to find a safe place to rest on these nights.
My profile picture is my husband and exchange son, and I haven't figured out how to change it yet.
Interests
Arts and crafts, comedies, school, sleep and (currently) pretty nails (finally able to do it!)
I have a passion for making my community my home.
I do enjoy cooking, but haven't had the time to try new recipes lately.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love almost any music, but an currently favoring modern country-it feels more wholesome than most other genres currently. I like some hip hop, but mostly the stuff with clever word play because it makes you think.
I love funny movies, and movies inspired by my favorite books.
I love fantasy books like Harry Potter and Spiderwick Chronicles. When I used to go to book stores, I would always ask what was popular with kids and young adults. Life is so serious, so I like to read about fun fantastical things.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hosted exchange students. I love making my kids' stay one worth appreciating.
Teach, Learn, Share
As I am a student, learning is a huge part of my life. However, I find I learn best by teaching.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A listening, apathetic ear.
