About Me

CURRENT MISSION

TRYING TO LIVE 100 YEARS MORE

ABOUT ME

I used to be 18 some years ago but things have changed and now I'm 54 I'm old enough to say I've lived a little and still young to say I have a lot to learn.
I think I´m a very reliable person, neither noisy nor rowdy but deep down, I´m very warm. I´m a bit serious if I have to be, rather ironic and a bit sarcastic but what I really love is making fun of everything and myself.

I'm always eager to learn about people and cultures.
I love tolerant people and dislike supremacist and extremist people; religion, ethnicity and politics.

PHILOSOPHY

VIVE Y DEJA VIVIR.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Depending on how busy I am, I enjoy hosting people.
I like helping people and give information when they travel to my city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

many experiences: coffee, beer, dinner, hiking, chat, laughs and, of course, ofcoursurfing.
Couchsurfing is based on mutual trust with unknown people and this is the funniest and more interesting part of it.
Couchsurfing is not for free accomodation. The real soul of this experience is exchanging ideas, thoughts, feelings and ways of living, that's why I appreciate people that takes their time to read my profile, to fill theirs and to add photos and comments.
Cs has changed a lot in the last few years. Today is a huge community and not everybody is interested in the original aim of this group. I received many requests of Crs that are only interested of getting a desperate free couch. This is not the soul of this community, that's whay I appreciate FULL profiles with many references, pics and more.
I don't trust too much in empty profiles: the more you fill your profile, the best I trust on you.

Interests

I have a natural bent to create things since I was a child, that means that I love painting, photography, sculpting and writing.
I like walking, hiking, trekking and travelling, and these are ones of the main motivations in my life.
I enjoy every simple and plain conversation.
I love people if they are good people.
I dislike any type of animal cruelty

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to Mozart,Wagner,Bruckner,Mahler, some electronic music:Depeche Mode( the masters),Prodigy,Die Form...and almost every kind of hard rock that is the music that really fills me : metal, thrash ,hardcore,oi-Redskinheads, punk...
My favourite writer is Gabriel García Márquez ( 100 años de soledad, the best book ever ). I´ve enjoyed almost all the books of Colin Thubron and some of Kapuscinsky, Kaplan,Sepúlveda,Mankell,Rulfo,Theroux, ....
I love latinamerican cinema and independent cinema . Fatih Akin,Iñárritu,Gaviria,Meirelles Amenábar,Solondz,Kiarostami,Coppola,Bergman...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing places:
Amazonia, Kamchatka,,Sahara,Himalaya,Cuzco,Peten,La Habana,Roma,Granada,Córdoba ,Chilean fjords,Patagonia,Iguazú, Inca trail,The Pyramids,India,Ha Long,Angkor,Istambul,Persepolis,Fez,Buenos Aires and many, many places.

My "amazings" things:
survivor in a bus assaulted by a gang armed with machetes(Guatemala,2000). Silver medal
survivor ( for a few hours) in a hotel terrorist attack( Turkey,1993).Bronze medal
survivor in Ourika valley floods(Marocco, 1995). Chocolate medal
survivor in one emergency landing and one difficult landing. Dinner homage & karaoke.

Gold medal award for putting up with my boss.

Now seriously: about traveling, probably the most amazing thing was finding by chance an old friend in a lost little restaurant in Bolivia many years ago.

Another beautiful experience was to look for Antonio Garcia Baron, the main character of one of my favourite books "el precio del paraíso" This book tells the story of this spanish Republican fighter who lived as a exile of the Franco era times in a hut in the Amazon jungle.
He was still living in the jungle... l look for him and I found him !!!
We talked a lot about his life and his experience during the terrible spanish civil war.

But, honestly, you don't need to go so far to do amazing things. One of my favourite places in the world is 20 km. from home: my old country house, where there is neither electricity nor running water. I'm the happiest person there with a few things, the sun, the sky and a fireplace in winter

Teach, Learn, Share

I love travelling . This world is tiny but full of experiences. It's great to talk about them.
Probably any thing you can teach me is interesting to me.
I like tasting different cuisines and I'd be pleased to taste your national favourite food. ;-)
