About Me

Loving life with deep, reckless abandon

For me, life is all about having fun and doing whatever it takes to feel truly alive. Find me on a bike, at a music festival, or in the mountains with like minded and inspiring friends and you will find a happy dude.

Open-minded, free-spirited and due in part to my Brazilian and Colombian heritage I have had a passion for traveling and experiencing new cultures for as long as I can remember.

Right now I work as a guide for an adventure travel company. We take groups of teens on service/adventure-based trips abroad. My first two summers I led in Costa Rica and have come to learn that the Tico's PURA VIDA lifestyle and mentality resonates with my soul.

"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all."

A boy from an orphanage in Nepal gave me a beautiful poem he wrote this past summer which I keep in my journal while traveling. One of the stanzas read:

Anything outdoors: mountain biking, camping, hiking, climbing, playing soccer or disc golf. Sitting, thinking, breathing deep and dreaming BIG! Always up for something new.

Also, my dog: Banksy!

Some more things I love: live music, listening to vinyl records, the arts in general, bikes, wearing costumes while riding bikes, good beer and better conversation, sustainability, service work, native culture and philosophy, animals. Nature... nature blows my mind.

In recent years I have discovered a passion in photography. With all the beautiful places I have the opportunity to explore comes a deep desire to capture it as best as possible . Please check out some of my photos here and at

Music, Movies, and Books

Authors: Jon Krakauer, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S Thompson, Paulo Coelho

Music: One of the best shows I have ever been to was the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Who in Baltimore several years ago. Other bands I love: Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Thievery Corp, the Roots, Seu Jorge, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Manu Chao, Los Amigos Invisibles, Xavier Rudd, JBT, Motet, Dustin Thomas, Galactic, Fat Freddys Drop, Black Seeds. Generally I love reggae, funk, samba pagode. Happy place = music festivals!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Amazon! I had the chance to paddle through some tributaries around Manaus in Brasil. Fishing for piranha and just listening to sounds of the rainforest left me with the most visceral connection to our planet that I have ever felt.

I have traveled for work and play for just about 16 months the past two years. The brilliant souls that I have met from Bolivia to Nepal have left a lasting impression on my life. Worthy of praise are the individuals that picked my good friend and I as we hitchhiked through New Zealand earlier this year. The stories are plentiful;)

Honorable mention: backpacking the Narrows in Zion NP, Utah last year.

Love the potential in this idea.

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow ~ Walk beside me, that we may be as one. - Ute Proverb
