About Me

I'm a German guy who spends his life studying politics, learning foreign languages and engaging in university activities. Still, I think that I can be more of an interesting conversation partner than this promises.

I've experienced couch surfing as a wonderful way of getting to know people in the places I visit and I hope that many nice encounters will follow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I'm a poor student and can't afford proper accomodations? No seriously, I think it's just more interesting to stay with locals and (ideally) get a chance to practice the local languageor eat traditional food.

Interests

Surprisingly, learning and speaking foreign languages is among my main interests. But the main reason why I love languages is because through them I can get a more thorough understanding of foreign cultures.
Besides that (and the driving force behind my study motivation) I love politics, be it national, international or simulated in a Model EU, and I'm eager to discuss that. Similarly I like history, baroque music and football. Although I'm out of practice, I can also play the piano.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Old Music (i.e. baroque and renaissance), but also metal and pop music in the language that I'm currently learning.

Movies: Not my main interest, but I like thrillers and history movies. ANd of course House of Cards, but that's a series.

Books: I recommend 'juoppohullun päiväkirja', a modern classic of Finnish literature. Most of novels I read are in foreign languages .

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learning a language for fun is certainly quite uncommon (but less amazing than it seems). Still it's a wonderful feeling to go abroad and speak to people in their mothertongues, especially in smaller countries.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach the basics of several languages, but concrete skills that I can teach don't go far beyond solving a rubik's cube and playing poker.

Learn: Whatever there is! I'm a really curious person, so chances are good you have an area of interest or a mother tongue I'm willing to learn about.

Share: Most of what I usually talk about is related to politics (in its broadest sense) or foreign cultures. Of course I wouldn't say no to sharing a beer, either.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very considerate guest and leave a place the same way I found it. Besides that I value a sound sleep just as much as any host or neighbour.
