Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To meet 100 nationalities by travelling i'm up to 73!

ABOUT ME

I'm 40, I'm an Nurse/Handyman/Barman doing various projects. I spent 9 years travelling the world. 2 years in Africa, 4 years in New Zealand & Australia and 3 years in Asia. I've been involved in Occupy London & wider Occupy group, I lived for 11 months in a tent outside St Paul's & Finsbury Sq.

The last few years I've been reopening empty spaces and turning them into community spaces.

PHILOSOPHY

Positive action. The universe, can be kind, can be cruel but never is it predetermined. Love your life,
Laugh hard, Run fast, Be Kind...

Dream yea but also leap & see where you fall.

Big fan of cooperatives, I've setup a few & help out with several more. We need more co-operatives, more community action & spaces for everyone (kids, teens, the elderly, disabled etc) to just hang out or offer something life changing (or anything in between)

Less tech bros, less profit driven thinking & more kindness.

More people power, better ways of doing things, enacting new thoughts/ideas/philosophies.

Peace, laughter & freedom,
🌈🦒🥳⚡🌄🌍🚂

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a big believer in co-operatives and people sharing what they have. So i love the idea of couch surfing. I've been hosting various people over the years surfers, activists and friends in various building and the like over last 10 years. The sharing economy is the future. For our souls and spirits if nothing else. Give stuff today to your friends, to lovely people to strangers and watch the love and universe flow back with positive energy & actions.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a fair few people now. I still haven't surfed a huge amount myself but hopefully building up credit by hosting. My first couch surfer is still my favorite, a lovely guy from the Netherlands :-). Jumped straight in and helped, as we were putting on a cabaret that eventing and he even caught the eye of a one of my burlesque performers.

Intereses

Traveling, hitchhiking & old swimming. I'm also an activist, being involved in Occupy London and reopening empty spaces for various communites.

Putting on shows. I produce my own cabaret "Cabaret of the Gods", I'm also a kitten (stage hand) & performer (burlesque, comedy & slapstick). My stage name is Thor.

My dream is to visit every continent and hopefully every country

Big science fiction fan (books, films & periodicals)
Love comedy festivals & every year I travel up to Edinburgh for the Edinburgh Festival & Fringe (the largest comedy event in Europe)

Música, películas y libros

Philip K Dick is my favorite author, I love speculative fiction. Ian M Banks, Alistair Reynolds, Alfred Bester, Kurt Vonnegut, JRR Tolkien, Douglas Adams, Stephen Donaldson (Gap series)), Asimov, Orwell, HG Wells, Nietzsche.

Cabaret Roulette. One of my fav ongoing Cabarets in London.

Sci Fi films like Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine Spotless Mind, Dune, Looper, Dark City, Children of Men, Starman (Bowie), Gattaca, Pi (Aronofsky), Solaris, Soylent Green, Moon, Brazil (Gilliam)

Sci Documentaries like Thrive, Silent Spectrum, FANomenon, Electric Mind.

SF can be ground breaking, truly thought invoking and fracking weird at times!

Algo increíble que he hecho

Lived in/Occupied/Saved a local library via Occupying it for 9 months.

Visiting Africa for 2 years, 14 countries, my first big trip and really got the travel bug and haven't stopped since. Just the culture and the people, some of the most amazing people you'll ever meet, some who have nothing and will give you the shirt of their back.

Zimbabwe especially the people they were amazing.

I'm half kiwi (New Zealand) & I love & miss my homeland. I will probably retire there someday, just the gorgeous scenery, lovely people & a fairly equal country (like parts of Scandinavia). Every beach has a BBQ and for 6 months I lived on this remote beach, surf casting every day, cooking the fish (love a freshly caught & cooked snapper) we caught & playing chess into the late evening. Heaven!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Showing communities how they can reclaim their power. Whether occupying, reopening old buildings, hosting events, putting on workshops and sometimes direct action.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

Food, couch, floor, shower, possibly a tour (depending how busy I am). A bike (I have 3), suggestions about where to go. I live on the edge of The Cotswolds. A particularly beautiful part of England with lovely pubs, villages & gorgeous scenery & architecture.
