ABOUT ME

hello. my name is luke. i appreciate laughter most of all. i also love dancing, music and good company, all of which often go hand in hand :) i am always looking for the next adventure. bicycling is essential. learning more languages is a goal. asking questions is for me a way to live. having the answers is not.

PHILOSOPHY

i seek constantly to go beyond the surface in my everyday interactions with people... but this emphasis on being fully present sometimes conflicts with a desire to stay in close contact with old friends who i no longer see. this is especially difficult when you move/travel a lot, like i (and i imagine many of you, being couch surfers) do, and your closest friends/family live all over the world. so, i try to find a balance between being engaged with my present life and being loyal to long-time friends, but i am bothered that i have to try. these things come to mind as i write about my "personal philosophy"...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am hoping to surf and host but I must admit my room is pretty small right now so i can only host one or maybe two surfers at a time. but my location is great, very close to the center of amsterdam.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i am new to CS so i don't have any experiences yet.

Interests

i am a composer of music for theater and film. also i am studying for an MA at the university of amsterdam in something called Cultural Analysis, but it is not so clear to me what that means. ha. ha? i teach english at a grammar school for little smart kids. i cook vegetarian meals with friends and drink a lot of red wine. i get carried away by music. i am quietly dreaming all day. i love to climb a tree but don't do it enough. i practice yoga but also not enough.
