About Me

Hi there, nice to meet you (maybe).

My name is Lula and I am on a Gap Year in Australia.
In primary school I got a book about a girl who traveled around Australia and since then, I wanted to do exactly the same.

I finished high school and want to fullfill my dream before I am off to Uni.

I am a friendly and open minded girl, ready to take the world by storm. I love to meet new people and get introduced to different cultures, or offering my own experience.
Going to museums and reading a book are things I like equally aswell as going out from time to time.
Generally I am a happy and grateful, looking forward to my year in Australia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a solo-traveler it can be hard to meet new people. As a couchsurfer it is easier to get to know the locals, feel a bit more at home and get some insider information about the neighbourhoods, have a nice conversation and share a drink.

Music, Movies, and Books

Naming one favourite song or artist will be impossible because my taste in Music is constantly changing. I listen to bands that could be described as Indie Rock but also Hip Hop and Rap (especially German Hip Hop with horrible lyrics). I like classics like The Doors, The Beatles or Tracy Chapman and bands like The Vaccines, Milky Chance, The Front Bottoms, The 1975 or Blink 182.

I love to read fantasy books and adore Harry Potter (but who doesn't) or literature classics which will come in handy when I'll study English Literature.
The last book I read was The Girls by Emma Cline which disturbed me for a while but was beautifuly written.

My friends would describe me as a movie virgin because I tend to watch the same movies over and over again. Cloud Atlas, The Breakfastclub, The Great Gatsby and Wild at Heart are my all time favourites. Currently I am binge watching Orange is the New Black and it is almost over. Recommendations on what to watch next will be appreciated!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've always been dreaming to go to Australia and just packing my bags and leave was one of the scariest and greatest things I've ever done. At the moment I am working hard on making this trip to be the next thing I can mention here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to teach my native language or some weird German traditions or even recipes with you. I could show you some chords on the Ukulele and how to sing off tune, some Yoga poses and how to not break your neck or even teach you how to write the ultimate cheesy haiku.
I could share some travel experiences and would love to hear about yours.
And of course I would love to learn about your passions and hobbies and get to know something about your neighbourhood.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A bit of laughter, a drink and cooking skills (if you are into curries because this is all I'm making the last months), maybe a bit of German culture or language. Conversation, a listening ear and a, hopefully lasting, friendship
