ABOUT ME

I'm a filmmaker and mermaid. I love to tell stories and hear more stories as well. New adventures and experience are things that I always look for in life. Just the right amount of trouble, thats my motto.

I grew up in rural East Texas but I moved to Cali for school. My heritage is Kiribati, which is a Micronesian country in the south Pacific. I'm pretty passionate about the environment especially concerning water issues and global warming.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My favorite moment performing as a mermaid was when I was in Lankawi, Malaysia. I was swimming in a koi pond without contacts or glasses to aid my vision. While dodging the fish and lily pads, I hear from the bank an adorable little voice say to her little brother "see I told you, mermaids are real". After hearing this I couldn't bring myself to get out of the water until that earnest little voice dressed in yellow was out of sight. So I ended up swimming with the fishes for 40 more minutes. But it was worth it to fulfill the dreams of a little girl.

One very telling moment from my childhood in East Texas started when I washing dishes looking out over my back yard. I was about 11 years old and home alone after school except for my 7 year old sister in the other room. All of a sudden I hear a commotion in the woods. My dog, a sweet golden retriever mix named Moonlight, goes running to the woods after the noise. A wild pig had broken into my yard and had Moonlight locked in mortal combat. Scared for my dogs life I run to my parent room and take out the family rifle, quickly loaded it and took aim. Even though I was only 11 I was a decent shot. I had my elbows propped up on the kitchen window looking though the cross hairs hovering between Moonlight and a vicious boar. I couldn't do it. I couldn't pull the trigger. It felt like a lifetime but finally my dog over power the pig and limped home with only minor wounds.
