About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ADVENTURE. YA HEAR ME? ADVENTURE.

ABOUT ME

Hello comrades,

I am a 19-years old applied-psychology student, living in Groningen, the Netherlands. Okay, you still with me? Boring part's over.

I am a huge fan of obscure stuff: especially the stuff people are a fan of; Are you a fan of animals that are totally underrated? Do you listen to "The Residents" on a daily basis? Part of a cult that preaches to eat grapes while chanting "We are one with the grapetree" (no scary cults, though, I'm not fond of blood and murder), chances are I'll be wanting to hear everything about it. Everything.

Care about art? Yeah, me too. I like hearing what people think about it, but I also like it when you can tell me stuff about artists you like. Famous or unknown; the story behind the work is a big thing for me. Tell me what you know, and I can share my knowledge; it might not be extensive but it's passionate.

Music is a huge thing for me aswell. I love to share bands and to hear new things. If you know anything from the list below, and know stuff I might like- Let me know.

I'm not religious; but I am really interested in hearing your religious beliefs as long as you're sincere and respectful about it. I might not believe the same thing, but the power of the story of a sacred book may still echo trough.

So basically, I'm willing to hear your story, especially if it's truly YOUR story.

PHILOSOPHY

"The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win."

The quote needs some modern application- it's not really about labour in my life (I'm lazy). But the fact that the comfort zone may not always be as comfortable as you think it might be. Not breaking the comfort-zone just because you're content with not doing much, is something I was guilty of during my life. I had to lose the chains of the comfort zone to find out there's more in life than sitting at home and check in with your schoolmates. I only afterwards I had nothing to lose but the chains of inexperience.

Yeah, I basically pulled the "I like new experiences" on you guys. But it's clever. And I have an interesting story about Karl Marx' communist manifesto. One I'd love to share.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first host was a fantastic guy in Hungary, who was absolutely amazing. Kind, warm and welcome. I felt I needed to return the favour sometime. All the other following hosts all tried their very best to give us a fantastic stay, and some even hosted us the day we contacted them. I have yet to have a truly horrible experience.

My first three surfers were all extremely kind souls that I really enjoyed staying with, too. I must admit I am a little sad they live so far away.

Music, Movies, and Books

- Movies
I haven't seen many of them. Though I do like talking about them and watching suggested ones.
I'm a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino's work, though.

- Books
I haven't read much aside of some Dutch literature so I wont be a challenging conversation partner on this subject.

- Music
I'm a huge fan of Progressive-, Post and Psychedic rock, aswell as Indie and Ska. There's also stuff that doesn't fit in there. Examples are:

Aranis, Arcade Fire, Agnes Obel, Alt-J, Bosnian rainbows, Cat stevens, Collapse under the Empire, Everything Everything, Faded Paper Figures, First Aid Kit, Foals, Gazpacho, Hanggai, Herbert Grönemeyer, Hiperkarma, Hogni, Jethro Tull, Joy division, Kansas, Katzenjammer, Kishi Bashi, Ludovico Einaudi, Maybeshewill, Mew, MeWithoutYou, Murder by Death, Muse, MONO, Public Service Broadcasting, Pink Floyd, Punanni Massif, Pure Reason Revolution, Porcupine Tree, Quimby, Radiohead, Streetlight Manifesto, Tame Impala, Tangerine Dream, The Family Crest, Typhoon, Woodkid, Wolf Parade, Yann Tiersen, 65DaysOfStatic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'd be spoiling the best stories if I fill that in.
But it involves breaking a friend's bike, if that teases you.

Teach, Learn, Share

What I can offer to you guys, aside of a night's rest?

Stories, happy, sad and bitter ones. And of course, the ol'-time favourite: the funny story.

I can draw things for you. Ever needed a drawing of a moose, but lacked it? No? Well you can still ask me.

Need a listening ear? Unless you're having serious emotional issues, I'll give you my honest and sincere opinion on touchy subjects. Note that I am not a real psychologist yet and thus have no actual experience giving good advice. But being heard is something we all need sometime.

So in short; Stories, drawings and emotional counceling.
