ABOUT ME

i'm the sort of person who people whinge about, saying:
why do i never know where she is??
HER sister asked ME where she was!
why doesn't she write/email/phone me?
i know she loves me to death but i need to SEE her sometimes for crying out loud!

so yes, travel, but i'm also an avid reader of almost anything if it's well written; i do very much enjoy scientific stuff for idiots (which doesn't mean i necessarily understand it all!)

then there's music and dance:
music: just about any type, though my first love is early music, but i don´t necessarily like every example of any particular type
dance: adore all types of dancing, whether i've ever done it or not, and...

i love meeting people: all colours, all types, any persuasion

live every day as if it were your last, but make plans for the next three hundred years ;))

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

at the moment i only participate by couch-surfing, but later when i get somewhere to live (wherever that may be!) i'll most certainly be hosting

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

my couch-surfing experiences so far have been wonderful; fun, warm-hearted hosts who welcomed me, made me feel comfortable in their homes, introduced me to their friends (and once to Mum!) and showed me their town - i've met two cats, one dog and a mountain of superb spaghetti - i saw firework displays from the best possible vantage point and have been ferried around on a scooter and in a car - muchisimas thanks, guys; you know who you are!

Interests

language (linguistics as opposed to individual languages, as in: all the different styles of communication there are); reading on all and every subject possible (even if i don't always fully understand it all!); meeting people and listening to everything they have to say about life and themselves, and the love of my life: travel... bliss...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

sorry, long lifetime so three amazing things:
1. mount etna seen from a train at night travelling down the italian coast - it blew my mind;
2.finding a tiny artefact on an archeological dig in greece - pure magic;
3.the entire west coast of scotland, like a live atlas, seen from the top of the isle of skye; then the mist rolled down from the north and erased it all like a giant rubber

i can teach you french or english and some italian; you can teach me some of your language; we can share reminiscences of books, movies, films we've both enjoyed and explore each other's philosophies of life
