I live on beautiful San Juan island on a small farm about 3 miles from the west side where Orcas swim by during most of the year. I am an artist, writer and musician and work with the community to facilitate music, dance and science workshops.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We enjoy meeting fellow artists, travelers and musicians and have a limited budget for traveling.

Interests

My partner is a luthier, a builder of stringed instruments and we have a band with our son and friends. We enjoy playing music, painting, building kinetic sculpture, gardening and animal husbandry.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Funk music and live music including rock, blues, zydeco, punk, metal etc. Just don't make me listen to the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, I can't stand them. I enjoy 16mm Old School movies and we play them in our shop for guests. We also like sci fi, classic horror movies, documentaries, action films, just no romantic comedies or purely vulgar humor. We have an extensive library on the property because we enjoy reading and using it for reference. My favorite author is Neal Stephenson and my favorite genre is Cyber Punk, but I have many other favorite books that are a bit more obscure.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one? I taught 2nd and 5th grade on a private island 1000 miles SE of Tahiti.

If you need instrument repair we can do that in our shop and if you are lucky we might have an custom made instrument for sale. We also build and sell kinetic sun sculptures and host open music jams in our shop, as well as 16mm movie nights.We have a 16mm projector and almost 100 films to choose from.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We travel with my service dog and my partner of 25 years who can fix almost anything. We are helpful, charitable and resourceful.
