ABOUT ME

Bonjour! Hello!

I'm MARILYN, just a girl, trying to find my place in the world, find something fulfilling to do everyday, to see our awesome planet and the people who live on it.

I like talking, napping, fish, chocolate, the color orange, discussing life's existential questions, retro tvs and clocks. Rice is my comfort food, sleeping is my favourite sport (I do enjoy ultimate frisbee a lot too, preferably when I'm awake) and scarfs are my safety blankets.

I want to change the world! I studied industrial design to: change the way we (myself included) consume, design ingenious, durable and interesting yet ecoconscious products, influence the companies out there to think about their impacts and act, create sustainable lifecycles for products while continuing to innovate. Use technology for the better good, to increase autonomy, sociability and interaction.

I'm a dreamer. Les rêves, c'est important.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's a simple formula, making a friend in a different country. Contacts are good! Through my travels I've met great people and had the chance to cross paths with them again and share moments in their daily lives.
So I've couch surfed at a friend's place in OZ after I met him 3 yrs earlier in Europe. I've couch surfed at friend's of a friend place in London and now thanks to CS, I hosted my first surfers in 2007 and I'll be making a whole lot more friends!

These have their very own box because they are so powerful. I laugh, cry, dream, question and think because of them. Thanks to the people who make them!

I always liked this quote from High Fidelity:
"What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music? "

My other favourite quote is from V for Vendetta "A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having".

I'm into all sorts of music, it always depends on how you feel and how you want to feel. Indie/Folk mostly ... fav band TGUK, Modest Mouse, The Knife - French artists, Serge & Charlotte Gainsbourg, M - 60s gogo pop and some classic or crazy dance music for vacuuming.

Not much time for reading while in school, but I love books and there are so many I haven't read in my own house.
