ABOUT ME

Hey my name is Yoka otherwise known as the "Dutch Diva". Music runs through my veins and shapes my life,I moved from Amsterdam to London 8 years ago. I sing '30's - '40's jazz/ blues with a trio and am the lead singer of The Little Devils an original 6-piece 21st Century Blues Band. I love writing, performing and recording. Once in a while I manage to live of music until reality bites me in the bum and I have to get a day job again.I share a flat in SE London with my crazy but o so sweet flatmate Charlie, Charlie delivers books to housebound people during the day and plays bass in punk rock band by night. We can only offer a couch because the spare room has been taken up by musical equipment and instruments. My life is hectic with work and gigs, I sometimes have to remind myself that I work to live not the other way around! I love cooking and have hosted a few "Orphans X-mas Diners" for friends living in London far away from their family.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to this concept but love the idea, friends introduced me to CS they had a very positive experience in Iceland. I might not always be able to offer you a place to sleep but I can take you out to live gigs or if you need a quiet night in you can come for diner, kick of your travelling shoes and relax with a bottle of wine and some good food. I hope to meet some great people in New York who can introduce me to the music scene. Very exciting!
