About Me
Hello! I am a recent grad of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (woo!). I am a fan of trying new foods, seizing the day, and taking advantage of new opportunities. For the upcoming school year, I am trying something very new and moving to Reunion Island, a small island near Madagascar, to teach English. Although I don't log in often, if you send me a message, I usually reply within 1-2 days at the most.
I value personal space and good communication skills. I like to think I can come up with witty quips on occasion. I strongly believe that kind words/acts and chocolate can make any miserable day a little bit better. :-)
I have a growing list that I like to call my list of things to do "before I get a real job" instead of things to do "before I die":
go kayaking at the Pont du Gard,
visit India,
run a marathon,
win a game of trivia at some bar's trivia night,
etc...
So far I haven't made much headway, but I have definitely done things I never imagined I would get to do!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like meeting new people and traveling! I haven't done a lot of hosting or couch surfing, but so far it has been a good experience. It's also more fun to meet people this way when I am traveling on my own.
I went to an amazing couch surf picnic in Amsterdam that opened my eyes to how much fun couch surfing can be.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like listening to NPR (US National Public Radio) too. I'm also a fan of Le Petit Journal and satirical television, websites, movies, or books, among other mediums. I'm a sucker for science fiction/fantasy shows such as Stranger Things, Sense8, and The Handmaid's Tale too. I would have to say that The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the book I can read over and over without getting tired of it. The next book/graphic novel on my reading list is Persepolis (and it will be until I get my hands on the French language edition).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked as a baker at a French immersion summer camp in Minnesota (in the US). I can make pretty decent baguette.
I led an "atelier danse" at the "American Day" at a French high school and the kids had a blast! It was something like hip-hop/zumba with some tutting thrown in and even though I was exhausted by the end of the school day, it was a fun experience.
I've stuck my feet in a fjord in Norway (it was cold!), seen the Aurora Borealis, seen a porcupine in the wild, lied in the middle of a field and watched a meteor shower, and I have met all kinds of world travelers.
When I lived in Los Angeles, comedian Bobcat Goldthwait once bought me a drink.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning about different languages and cultures, and I can share my experiences with French and Arabic (and English, which is my first language). I would love to learn more Arabic, or Korean, or whatever. Not required, just for fun.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can make some pretty good baked goods and I can share my travel experiences!
