Hi, I'm Machteld. I live in Utrecht. I love to travel around the world. In my free time I play badminton and go out with my friends.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I had a contact with someone on a holiday in Norway and I hosted several people.
During my trip in New Zealand I surfed some couches.
I don't respond to friend requests from people I have never met. For me it is important that when I make somebody a friend on couchsurfing I at least have met them in person and had a positive experience with them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few years ago I went for a holiday to Norway. Two days before leaving I registered on this site to see whether there would be I nice place to stay in Bergen, the only place I knew for sure I was going to stay. I reacted on Katerina who had no couch, but was willing to meet for coffee. A day later I received a message from her with her phone number so I could call her when I was in Bergen. In Bergen I indeed contacted her and because she was in the neighbourhood, we met only a few minutes later. We went for a drink on a terrace. We got along great and when we parted an hour later we agreed that I would contact her the next day to make another appointment. The next day she invited me at her home for dinner. It was a great evening.
After that i hosted several people. In New Zealand and in Portugal I have surfed a few couches

Intereses

Badminton, movies, meeting with friends, music.
My holiday is a good holiday when I had some nice hiking days.

Música, películas y libros

Movies: The kind with a good story. No blockbusters.

Music: Lots of kinds. Love to go to (small) concerts.

Books: The same as with the movies. Just a good story.

Algo increíble que he hecho

The first time i went on holiday alone. I was amazed to have such a great time travelling on my own. Met a lot of people and did a lot of thinking. There i decided to make a big careermove.
And in New Zealand I went swimming with dolphins in the ocean. That was awesome!
