It makes me nervous that as a student majoring in Communications that I have a difficult time communicating about myself, but nevertheless, here we go.

I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and shortly after my birth, my family moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I don't have a great amount of memories from there due to us moving a year later after my sister's birth to Shreveport, Louisiana. Even though we only lived in Shreveport for a little under two years, some of my earliest memories include the incredible Cajun food and Mardi Gras celebrations.

I suppose my family gave up their nomad lifestyle after that, as we moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when I was 4 and have stayed there ever since. I currently study at Elon University where I am active in the local music scene and college radio.

It's so awesome that we're living in a time where music festivals are starting up every year, drawing in crowds from every corner of the globe. I have the feeling that some of these festivals may host one of my few opportunities to see a music artist (whether it be Pavement reuniting again or Morrissey sticking with a date for once), but Couchsurfing reaffirms the possibility of sorting out the stickiest part of travel: housing.

I work in college radio, so trying to find the next big band, going to concerts, discovering all the music I've missed, and promoting local artists are all extremely important to me.

I've been surrounded by sports my whole life, but can cite a bit of influence from an odd arrangement of teams. I follow the Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Blue Jays, Charlotte Hornets, and Penn State Football.

Movies: The Big Lebowski, Trainspotting, Billy Madison, The Graduate, Rushmore (total soft spot for just about all Wes Anderson), Reservoir Dogs, and Gentlemen Broncos immediately come to mind.

Books: Pretty scattered, as I'll take non-fiction and reference over just about anything.

I'd also be glad to to provide any of North Carolina's famous foods or beverages that apparently are famous outside of the state.
