About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Road-trip down the East coast!

ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty independent lady who often times will stop conversations in order to pet a dog that is walking down the street. I have issues with sitting still (especially when I have a debit card and am near a bus station/airport). I'm almost always biking or laughing or singing while I do the dishes or making sure to pack snacks in my purse because I'm not-so-secretly the soccer mom of my group of friends.

PHILOSOPHY

Novel things for always. If I haven't done it yet, I'm likely not too far behind from doing it. I also don't believe in "boredom". I think if you're bored, you're not doing enough. There is so much to see and do to be bored!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to surfing, but I'm excited to break free from my usual routine of hostel-inhabiting and hopefully hosting in the fall!

Interests

I love living in the Northeast because it still boggles my mind that I can drive through and see multiple states within a relatively short period of time. I usually spend a lot of my time exploiting this by biking through it, mooching off friends that actually have driver's licenses and cars, and a lot of my life has been spent on Megabus.com. I also can't help but love a really corny YA novel, a cheap concert for a band I've never heard of (you might just see a woman playing a literally flaming-washboard solo at one of those) , and a really good veggie burger.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love love Josh Ritter, St. Vincent, any classical, experimental, and the usual "indie" stuff. I looooove going to concerts, and am usually down for any kind of music, save for techno. Country, bluegrass, alternative, classical, world, lay it on me.

I usually read anything I can get my hands on. I love WWII novels, non-fictional, humor, and read too many blogs to count.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to San Francisco by myself around Valentine's day last year. I went to go visit Berkeley (to see the Doe Library, duhhhhh) but the library was closed. It was a gorgeous day so I decided to mosey around before jumping back on the train to get to my hostel. I ended up running into a group that was swing dancing outside in the main part of campus, they asked me to join them, which then lead to us all eating Indian food together and going to see Cal's production of The Vagina Monologues (When in Berkeley...? ). I still keep in touch with them, and one of them lives in Boston and we still go swing dancing and eat food together.

Other than that, there are just too many for me to recount; Moments spent swing-dancing or contra dancing with really kind strangers at MIT. Bike rides to Castle Island when Boston finally got nice weather (also with strangers. I see a theme here). One time I biked the Boston marathon course with 500 people at midnight and it'd be criminal not to describe just how great/stupid/awesome it is to bike until four in the morning, in the rain, all across Massachusetts.
