About Me

I am a lover of life. I love discovering new people, places, and ideas that shake my currently small world. My biggest goal in life is to see and learn as much as I can about this beautiful Earth that I am lucky enough to live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am finally setting out on my first big travel excursion. I will be spending the month of June 2016 exploring Ireland, a place whose music and culture has always been very special to me. I love the idea of couchsurfing. The opportunity to meet new people from all over the world and stay in local's homes is an irresistible experience that I am so excited to be apart of!

Interests

I love exploring the outdoors with my two dogs, Maxx and Daisy. Hiking, biking, camping, and hanging out at the dog park.

My creative outlets are the biggest part of what makes me who I am. I play the mandolin and the ukulele and I am eager to learn the banjo and the balalaika. I love to make music, paint, write, sew, and dance.

Science is my religion. I am devoted to learning all I can about the cosmos and the beautiful intricate workings of the universe and beings that inhabit it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I truly love all music. From the bluegrass sounds of Doc Watson, the funky beats of The Isley Brothers and Rose Royce, classics like The Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac, the soulful voices of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Muddy Waters, the fun and fabulous 80's pop of Tears for Fears and Hall and Oates, and the masterful song writing of Cat Stevens, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan. I love rocking out the The Pogues and the Pixies, crooning with Dean Martin and Louis Prima, bumping Wu-Tang and Run-D.M.C in my car, and grooving to David Bowie and Lou Reed.

Movies: I am a VHS collector and I love a very wide range of films that would be far too many to list, but here are a few. Harold and Maude, Cabaret, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction(anything Tarantino actually), American Beauty, Breakfast at Tiffiany's, Summer Stock(anything with Gene Kelly), Ferris Buller's Day Off, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and Funny Girl.

Books: I love to read all kinds of literature. My favorite authors are Tolstoy, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Hunter S. Thompson, Chuck Palahniuk, Thoreau, Rumi, Sylvia Plath, Kahlil Gibran, Oscar Wilde, Fitzgerald, Capote, Kurt Vonnegut, Louisa May Alcott, Roald Dahl, Kerouac, Charlotte Bronte, and Ginsberg.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent the last year living in the middle of nowhere in the southern California desert near Joshua Tree National Park. I wanted to separate myself from the life I was accustomed to and find inner peace in the solace of the desert. I found out that isolation can be a beautiful thing, I learned so much about who I am and what I am capable of.

I don't know how amazing that really is, but it was certainly an experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

As a traveling novice, the well seasoned wanderers on Couchsurfing will be a huge source of education and inspiration, the things I can learn will be endless and invaluable.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my music, my positive outlook, and probably some drinks and laughs.
