Hi there! I'm Maddie, a 23-year old graduate out on my European adventure before hitting the real world of full-time jobs, house payments, and all that other stuff! I'm living in Rome and working as an au pair for 3 wonderful little girls, teaching them English and taking Italian classes during the day. I return to San Diego in June and there just doesn't seem to be enough time to squeeze everything in, but I'm trying my best!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing because one of the best things about the European way of travel is meeting so many different people! With so many different cultures and people living in such close proximity (at least compared to America), I've met the most interesting individuals, some of whom have become great friends. Additionally, the au pair budget is pretty tight, and couch surfing is a fantastic way to experience new places and new people on a budget like mine. Moreover, hanging out with a local is the BEST way to see a new city. As helpful as Trip Advisor can be sometimes, I'd much rather hear what someone has to say about their home.

Interests

I love cooking, exercising, reading, walking around, chatting with people, seeing new things, eating out at different types of restaurants, listening to music, etc. Especially when I'm traveling, I like to just see where the city takes me.
