About Me

ABOUT ME

I was bitten by the travel bug at 18, I haven't spent over 11 months in one place since! I'm a linguistics nerd, and I will talk for hours about accents and dialects, or almost anything about languages.
At the moment I'm teaching English in Germany, but I hope to return to the States for a career that fosters cultural exchange after my year in Germany is up!
I'm always down for a good laugh, and I try not to take myself too seriously. I like to make others feel comfortable and welcome, but I'm not afraid to speak my mind either. I try to be very open about myself, but that means that I usually trust others to be open with me as well if they are comfortable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I don't have the chance to host for the time being, I'm hoping to surf my way around Europe. I've been hosted just once with an amazing woman in Amsterdam, and it really helped me feel at home.
My family has been hosting exchange students (13!!) since I was 5, and I'm ready to do some surfing-- it's never too early or too late to meet someone who challenges your preconceptions!

Interests

learning languages, why people have the prejudices they do, cooking (and eating the things I cook), learning something new from a passionate person.
I keep a private blog about my travels which I'm hoping to adapt into a series of short stories. We'll see how that project grows :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: After a 23 year hiatus of regularly reading for pleasure, I am now just enjoying the fact that I have time to read. Harry Potter will probably be my favorite books though.

Music: I listen to almost anything. I don't seek out new music, but I like almost everything I hear.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

visited the Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque in Istanbul
