Moving on...

I spent most of time in front of a computer, working. Every 4 months or so, I give myself a good break and go for vacations. I love visiting new places and meeting new people. I am vegetarian which does not let me have a good meal at most of the places that I go. I mostly love eating spicy Indian food but sometimes I also like to try local cuisine of the places I visit.

I am Indian, so wherever I go, am asked several questions about my country, which I love to answer. People are usually curious about it's culture and it's elephants. Just one thing, if you have seen Slumdog Millionaire, it does not mean you know India. It is much more and better than that. If you pick up the Indian map and point right at the center of it, that would be my home.

I am not very good with learning new languages (apart from computer languages, which I am quite good at), but I am trying to learn Portuguese for my survival in Portugal. I hope to succeed one day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think there is no better guide to the place than the locals. They know the essence of the place. Rather than looking for crowded streets, full of tourists I like to visit the heart of the place and couch surfing gives me an opportunity to do that.

Interests

I love to hike. I try to find a hiking trail wherever I go or you can say that I visit only those places where I can hike. In my free time I usually read books or watch series/movies. Quite late, but recently I started learning to swim. Trying to overcome my fear of deep waters.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read a good mix of classic and modern literature. I enjoyed Little Women and Jane Eyre in classics. I mostly try to read memoirs or biographies so that I can learn something while I read. Educated by Tara Westover and Becoming by Michelle Obama are my new favourites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2016, I went for a solo trip to Italy. It was my first trip alone and it was amazing. I haven't felt that level of excitement before. Since then I am a proud solo traveler.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I know how to cook Indian food, if you like it. I am also good with fixing computers and phones (my family have made sure to make me fix everything in home ever since I finished my engineering). :P :P
