ABOUT ME

I am one of these people who find it more embarrassing to sit next to another human being without initiating a conversation than to remain in silence the whole trip on a train.

I travel to be reminded about how different we look at each other when growing up in different places. It makes me humble and intrigued to dive deeper into the puzzle of life that I am yet to understand motivated to learn more about.

I love to discuss and chat, but above all I strive for the moments where no words are any longer can capture the beauty of an experience.

The concept of couch surfing is to me more than just a stay overnight - it is manifestation of a human willingness to continuously reach out for a cross-cultural understanding via each other. Participating in couch surfing therefor gives me hope in humanity as it help contributing to a world we humans not look each other in the eyes because of money but genuine curiosity.

*Exploring: As a member of Couch Surfing, it is no surprise that travelling is on the list. However, despite of this I am sure that among Couch Surfers we all have different travel-methods. I personally started out wanting everything to be planned to every detail in before hand. Now, however, I go without a map in my hand. Whether it is to to embrace the liberty of making decision on the spot or to embrace the uncertainty of what is next I am not sure. Nevertheless, this is how I travel. Simple - but with a profound effect.

* Sports: Generally I enjoy being active and running in particular has been topping my list for years. However, as several injures has made this hard, I am now particularly interested into cycling.

* Music: I play the piano and although it has been a while since I received my last lesson back in 2007 I still enjoy the charm of playing on the black-and-white instrument.

*Learning. Above all, I think what captures the essence of my interests is really "learning". Finding out something new or re-experienceing something in a slightly different regardless of what this is, is what keeps me going.

Taking a gap year, teaching 1000+ Chinese students (8-12 years) 4 months in the rural China, (August-December, 2012) and subsequently traveling for 5 months in South East Asia covering China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodja, Thailand, Indonesia (December-May, 2012)
