About Me

to explain to as many people as possible where the hell Lithuania is

well, it's always hard to talk about myself, so I'm trying to imagine what my best friend would tell about me. So I'm friendly, optimistic, laid-back, flexible, brave person, who just can't stay for a long time in one place! That's why I just can't imagine my life without traveling - then I feel I really live, not just exist. Of course, I have big amount of minuses (nobody is perfect, right?), such as: irresponsible, absent-minded, having head in the clouds (...)

First of all - Carpe Diem (not very original, but true one!)

"Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't" Bill Nye

"I never dreamed about success. I worked for it." Estee Lauder

"If you don't know what your passion is, make yourself your passion. Find ways to improve yourself". That's what I'm attempting to do.

And I'm always trying to remember that best things in life aren't things, so, let's say, best thing in life are: making a connection with somebody; adventurous journeys; spontaneously, on the other side of the globe met old friend ; thinking about your favourite song and right after hearing it on the radio; a honest hug/smile; no awkward silence with just met person; and millions of other 'things' :)

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world" (Gandhi)

“If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don't even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery--isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you'll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.” Charles Bukowski

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

mostly I'm hosted. Usually by awesome people. I'm the lucky one :)

I surfed about 15 times and met random CSers while traveling. Just positive experience so far

Traveling. Eating (everything what is edible!). Spare time with friends. Electronic (and not only) music. Reading. Watching the sky. Dreaming. Hiking. Partying (especially in Berlin!). Walking alone around Vilnius Old Town.

Music, Movies, and Books

"Some movies you see, others you feel." So here are the movies which I feel: by Quentin Tarantino (e.g. Pulp FIction, Kill Bill), Alejandro González Iñárritu (Amores Perros, 21 grams, Babel), Xavier Dolan (I Killed My Mother, Heartbeats). Also American History X, Dead Poets Society, Gladiator, Moulin Rouge! Pearl Harbor, The Pianist, Adam's Apples, Shindler's List.

TV shows: Game of Thrones (of course!), The Office.

Music: in general non-commercial stuff. Priority - electronic music (such as ambient, downtempo, electronic rock, IDM, techno, deep house, dubstep). And I'm really into post rock (+ some other types of rock, like alternative/indie/art rock). Some particular names: M83, Nicolas Jaar, Tale of Us, Sigur Rós, Caribou, Griff, Starfucker, Explosions in the Sky, Ten Walls, Air, and... ahhhh, too many of them!

Books: Erich Maria Remarque, Haruki Murakami books. Also P. Coelho's "The Alchemist", F. Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment", M. Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind", G. Garcia Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude", J. Saramago's "Blindness" , George Orwell's "1984" and lots of other books which names I can't remember right now :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Basically, everything that makes me leave my comfort zone. For example, skydiving in Hawaii. Or moving to Canada for 1 year.
Every day gives us something incredible if we just keep eyes wide open :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn how to cook something more sophisticated than student's omlette.
What can I teach? Sorry, I am a bad teacher (not very patient...), but I'll do my best!
